Somehow it’s Tuesday again! I swear the older I get the more time flies. I spent Monday flying home from Wisconsin and I’ll confess that I didn’t get a chance to write a post about 4th of July and running before I left, so you get some random thoughts about this summer so far. Hopefully you have some good races you can tell us about!
First off, happy 4th!
We haven’t gone to see the National Fireworks in a few years. We once had the opportunity to watch them from the top of a building near the Mall. Needless to say, it’s totally spoiled us and I’ll never go watch them with the masses again. (Kind of like getting to be up on a balcony for Mardi Gras – I’ll never be able to top that either LOL.)
Running has been going pretty well lately. I’m pretty sure that had something to do with the amazing weather in Wisconsin. Most of my runs were in the low 60s! I even got the chance to run with a fellow Skirt Sports ambassador. My parents don’t live in a large town, so it was crazy to find another ambassador there.
Now I’m back in the hot and humid south. Why do we live here? Oh, right, that small thing called a job. Anyways, I’m doing Hansons again this year and tomorrow it will be in the high 70s with matching humidity when I wake up. UGH. After a week in the cool, I am absolutely not ready. But I’ll put on my “fireworks” skirt and get some miles in before it’s unbearable.
While I was gone, I got the new June POPSUGAR Must Have box. I always enjoy receiving these as they never fail to have a few hidden gems. This month was a great one: cookies, coffee, a new book to read… Oh and a really cool splash proof zip pouch! I think it will be my new “corral the wet running clothes” pouch!
Want to try out the #MustHaveBox? Use code SHOP5 to get $5 off your first box! (POPSUGAR sent me this Must Have Box to try…)
What are your plans for the 4th of July? Are you running a race to celebrate?

I bet Wisconsin was great for running! Hope you have a great run today. I always try to tell myself that the weather could be worse.
I keep asking myself why I live in Illinois, the worst state in the US…where everyone is leaving for Wisconsin? Family, friends, oh, and a job…
Glad you enjoyed your time in Wisconsin! One of these days we have to connect!
I wish I had a fourth of July race to run, but I don’t know of any today! I’m hoping to go out in a bit for a short stroller run in the heat to celebrate. Enjoy!
I ran a race this morning. One of my favorites one here. I am in the same boat about crowds. 🙂
We used to watch the fireworks from my grandmother’s balcony near the Kennedy Center can’t top that like you say. Looks like a little cooler weather this week!
Ive been reading SO SO MUCH about adults and time flying.
they say—the royal erudite they :-), it’s because we dont have enough NEW OR NOVEL experiences to make life seem slow.
That’s definitely NOT NOT NOT you!!
Philly always has great fireworks for the 4th, but you’re right – having a great view makes all the difference! I didn’t run a race yesterday but I took a killer barre class that has me hurting so good!
I didn’t run a race, but I did get on the treadmill. I felt good after my run on Saturday got the rust off, and I could’ve gone farther. I decided 30 minutes was good to get work on my cadence and to test my new shoes.
