We don’t celebrate Valentines Day here. Beer Geek is not a fan of shopping and I’m not a fan of cards and neither of us is big on made up holidays. We barely celebrate our anniversary most years, so it was quite easy to drop V Day off our list of celebrations.
Now, Friday the 13th, well that’s an entirely different matter. Almost 15 years ago, on a Friday the 13th, Beer Geek and I went on our first “date”. Even after that many years and two kids and all the craziness that is our life these days, he still rocks my world. Now THAT’s something worth celebrating! So tonight, we’ll take our boys and head to Rock Bottom Brewery and celebrate with make your own pizza (for the boys) and yummy beer (for the adults).
I ran on the treadmill today. I was just done with all the wind around here. I attempted some half mile repeats with quarter mile breaks. I did the first two in 4 minutes and a third one in 4:30. I wanted to do another one, but just didn’t have it in me, so I just ran a few more miles for a total of 5.8 miles (52:50) . Tomorrow I’ll do a quick four miler for the FFFK (so I hit 20 miles for the week) and then I’ll make another attempt at a long run on Monday morning.
Awwwhhh that’s so cute! Man I can’t even remember the date of our first date :-X YIKES! Shoot I hardly remember our anniversary 😛 HAVE FUN ;D ;D
We celebrate our first date too. That’s much better than valentine’s day!
I’m better at remembering our anniversary than Teh ‘Bride is. But we don’t do V-day either, although tonight I will have some beer. But it IS Friday.Teh ‘Bride keeps track of weirdo dates and then quizzes me:She: “Know what today is?”Me: “Guh? I’m gonna be in trouble after this aren’t I?”She: “Well, it was 15 years ago today that we [did some stupid-@$$ thing or other].”Believe me, sister, I don’t know what the proper response to that is, but it’s NOT “O, who the fark cares!”I learned that the hard way!I’m glad to see you’re making more of an effort to put beer front-and-center on your blog, sister. I had just about written you off. But you managed to pull out of your recent tailspin. Because in this post:Beer 1Shoes 0It was a squeaker, but beer won.But beer should ALWAYS be beating shoes by 5 or more runs. WORK ON THAT sister!
Have fun tonight! Love the lucky 13. DEFINITELY cooler than a card.
We don’t celebrate V day either. Never have. I’m anti made up holidays, too. How cool that Friday the 13ths are special for you! That’s a great TM run. Speed is the only way to do indoor runs, IMO. And I love the shoes. So cute.WTG on 20 miles for the week!
We don’t make a big deal about our anniversary either. Valentine’s day is more of joke in our house. Have fun at Rock Bottom. That is a fun place.
I have no idea when our first date was. I think sometime in March. But, in Valentine’s Day’s defense, all holidays are “made up” — we attach meaning and significance to them based on our own cultural and personal experience.
I don’t remember when our first date was. I remember when we met because it was the day before my birthday :)Valentine’s day has become a kid holiday in my household though.
It WAS crazy wind, today!! I ran on the TM yesterday, so I couldn’t bring myself to I should say my hubby…is the complete opposite re: V day. It is his favorite holiday!! I used to be with you–it’s a Hallmark holiday!! I guess we have a dearth of celebrations in the winter…so V day makes up for it. How great that you all still celebrate your first date! We can’t seem to agree on our first date! Also, thanks for your comment on my blog. We looked into Savor. My BIL is a HUGE fan of microbrews and brews his own beer (he’s a chemical engineer!), but they had other plans that weekend. I actually don’t even like beer (gasp) and was known in college for carrying around my box of Franzia (at least my taste in wine has improved) so the $$ would have been wasted on me. Looks like an awesome event! I love the Bldg Museum!
PS–I have NO IDEA what Blogger did to my comment and I can’t fix it now!The second sentence should read:”I ran on the TM yesterday, so I couldn’t bring myself to do it again today.”
Aww, what a cute tradition! have a great time
