This weekend I ran my 6th half marathon in 30 days. And I actually raced it! (More on that tomorrow when I have the energy to download pictures.)
Today, my body is pleading “Uncle”. I am flat out exhausted. My calves hurt, my quads are unhappy, and my brain is foggy. The combination of a hard run, not enough sleep, and too many hours of driving has emptied me completely.
Know how I know?
I got lost on my way home from meeting a friend for coffee this morning.
Not “lost lost” as in I didn’t know where I was, but lost as in I missed a turn and had to drive home via a different route. Given that I’ve lived in the same house for 15 years and I KNOW this area, there must be some excessive brain fog going on! (I’m just thankful that the mistake didn’t force me into DC. THAT would have been disastrous LOL. And it doesn’t take a whole lot to end up in DC from where I live.)
So, I think I’ll call today a rest day and go take a nap instead of a run. Race report tomorrow when I can string a sentence together coherently.
I have totally done that before, usually on the days I work both jobs (like today) I end up taking the long way home from #2! Rest up, looking forward to reading the race recap!
Napping FTW!
My husband and I distinctly remember that foggy feeling when we first started dating…we knew each other for 5 years, but something about that first kiss…
must have been a good coffee date 😉 Were you planning your next 5 state conquest?? 🙂
I think you are entitled to feel tired and to take a break for sure!!
Time to pull back a bit. You’ve given your body a thrashing – it’s no wonder you’re tired.
Nice job!
Hope you got some good rest. 🙂
