I woke up this morning feeling like this:
We went to the Auction for Jones’ school last night. Since I’m a beer connoisseur (ok, maybe more of a beer snob), I wasn’t interested in drinking the beer that was available. The venue also didn’t allow red wine (my next favorite drink). So, I ended up drinking a lovely fruity drink with vodka. I hadn’t eaten much dinner as I planned to take full advantage of the yummy stuff available there. Somehow, that didn’t happen and the drinks went down too easily and I ended up, well, let’s just say I didn’t feel so great at church this morning.
The original plan was to do a 6 mile tempo run between church and lunch, but that was quickly changed to a plan of running a 6K easy run sometime in the afternoon. Finally, around 3:30 pm, I decided I was feeling good enough to run.
I had a goal of averaging under 9 minute miles. My first two miles were right on target (8:48, 8:50), but I decided to push myself for mile 3 since I didn’t plan to run the full 6. I ran one of my fastest miles ever – 8:18! At that point, I wasn’t sure if I was approaching the puke threshold from the speed or the hangover. I was definitely sweating out some vodka. I slowed down for the next bit and ended up running 3 more miles and making it the full six miles (8:45, 8:58, 8:52). Apparently drinking and running works for me. Maybe it’s the carbs?
Thanks to RunningLaur for hosting the race. I never would have run today if I hadn’t HAD to.
Glad I could “make” you go out and run – and with a fastest mile ever. Maybe this leads to a grand experiment of which beer produces the most successful hungover run…
Speedy run! Glad people seemed to like the basket. I know you put a lot of thought into it.
Great run! That’s awesome that you ran such a fast mile, especially being hungover!
lol at sweating out the vodka, and nice speedy run! Maybe that’s the secret! 🙂
Sweet run, who needs water and Gatorade when you’ve got vodka??
Great run – must be the vodka!
Beer running! W00-h00!!1!My word verification: “bortello” – um, did you go somewhere else afterwards that you’re not telling us about?(BTW, Blogger misspelled “bordello”.)
Great time. I’ll have to add hitting the vodka to my race night regimen.
Nice job on the “race”! It’s nice that those virtual races have a flexible start time, right? Perfect for weekend running when recovery is soemtimes needed in the morning 😉
Great run! Glad the basket fetched a good price.
Awesome job, you are getting speedier and speedier!!
Day-um, you are getting FAST!!
Look at you getting all speedy! Very NICE job! Whoot!
great job on your 6 miler!!
You posted a faster time than me hungover?!?!?It’s official – I’m drinking a beer or two the night before every run.
Congrats on your run! You’re a better woman than me! I wouldn’t been able to drag myself out of bed!
