This week has just flown by. But time spent at my parents’ house always does. I’ve been so busy that I realized today that I’d completely forgotten to blog this week. I guess that’s a good sign – I’ve been too busy with real life to write. And thankfully, it’s all good busy. So today, you get five random things…
Today Jones and I fly home to Virginia. I’m looking forward to being home, but I also always wish I was staying here. It’s been awesome spending two weeks with only one child. I haven’t gotten to do this since he was 4! We got to check out the International Crane Foundation, the Minnesota Zoo, and the National Eagle Center. He’s a good kid and he’s starting to explore college options (GAH!) and we both survived him taking econ this summer. Win!
Saturday Shoo comes home from two weeks away at camp. That’s the longest I’ve ever been away from him. All the pictures I’ve seen look like he’s having fun, but in typical boy fashion, I got zero mail from him. He did, however, buy one of everything from the camp store – and more decks of cards than any one kid needs LOL.
I think *knock wood* my ankle is finally nearly healed. I was a little sore after walking all over the Minnesota Zoo on Wednesday, but I’ve run without pain a few times and had minimal pain in the hours and days after. Fingers crossed that this means I can really start training for MCM. A 7 mile long run is just not going to cut it.
You know what I think finally did the trick for my foot? Stretching and Oofos. The pain was not in the right place for plantar fasciitis OR tendinitis, but stretching my calves and feet multiple times a day plus never walking barefoot made a huge difference. (I will admit that the minute I could walk barefoot again, I stopped wearing them in the house, but I still wear them a lot. Good thing I have 3 pairs LOL.) Go over to ZOOMA’s instagram for a chance to win a pair!
BIG NEWS: Skirt Sports has decided to allow our codes to be used on sale items!!! That means you can take 15% off new stuff and sale stuff with my code. There’s a lot of great stuff on sale right now, so it’s the perfect time to take advantage of it.
It’s hard to believe we only have 2 more weeks of summer. Time to start buckling down and getting ready for school! I swear time just flies so fast…
I’m joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup
The week always goes by so fast! Glad to see you had a good time home. I keep hearing many good things about Oofos, that good huh?
The whole year is going by fast! Glad you had a good time
I’m glad you are feeling better! I always freak out when I get random foot pain. And some things I read say don’t go barefoot, others say yes, go barefoot. I think it totally depends on how your foot is shaped and of course what is wrong with it. I walk around my house barefoot all summer and in socks all winter!
So glad your ankle is feeling better! I love my Oofos! Back in the day (ahem!) mail was a big part of being at camp. We had to write letters twice as week as our “meal ticket” to dinner. Do you even send care packages anymore, or can they get everything at the camp store?
Yay!!!!!! I’m glad to hear the foot is feeling better! You talking about stretching daily (and throughout the day) is a great reminder we ALL should be doing that, even if we’re not entertaining “injured” status.
That’s great news about your ankle. I too need to ramp up to marathon calibur miles and I am not looking forward to it. Especially not as long as this heat sticks around.
Glad you figured out what helps your foot pain! Amazing how many aches and pains are helped by stretching…
Can you believe I actually just discovered Oofoos this summer? I am now hooked and have 2 pair. I love wearing them around the house, they are better than slippers! -M
Thanks for linking up!
