I’ve been wound a bit tight this weekend, trying to figure out some of the legal and tax implications of being “self employed”. As a legal librarian (not a lawyer or accountant), I know just enough to be dangerous. ;o) I called my dad tonight, feeling very stressed about “ohmygoodnessIdon’tknowhowtosetupanLLCorhowthatworkswithtaxesorwhotocallorwhattodo…” I was practically hyperventilating and near tears. His response?
“You’ve run a couple of marathons and a lot of long races. You know you can’t worry about the entire 26.2 all at once. You’ll just get overwhelmed. You worry about the first mile and take the remaining ones as they come. So, just figure out what piece you need to start with and deal with that first.”
Right, Dad. Thanks for the reminder.
*Taking a deep breath*
Anyways, between my dad’s advice and a 2.5 mile run last night that involved approaching my puke threshold, I think I’ve got a better grip. As I mentioned on facebook, sometimes I have to run so that I don’t run away.
On to more fun things…
Three more winners! Jones was mad that Shoo got to pick all three winners last time, so he picked today. He refused to dress up for your enjoyment. Sorry.
Winner #10 is
Badgergirl at Adventures of Badgergirl lives in the awesome state of Wisconsin and just finished her “comeback” half marathon. I may refuse to mail her gift and instead make her meet me halfway when I go home in August. ;o)
Winner #11 is
Molly over at I’m a Sleeper Baker focuses on food and running. Maybe she’ll run the Boilermaker with me in a year or two…
Winner #12 is
Bethany and Ryan over at Our Love on the Run are a fun couple who just completed their first ultramarathon! WTG!
Fine print: Email me your choices at mom2shoo at gmail.com within 48 hours. I think the remaining items are an Abita beer glass, a Capital City brewing glass or other item, the Dogfish Head beer opener, coffee, and a random assortment of running nutrition goodies. Check here for details of each item and please send me a list in your preferred order.
Isn't it funny how some people can put things into a different perspective sometimes? Love that!

Very wise. I'm so guilty of looking one day, week, month or year ahead and not enjoying (or just living in) the moment.
Iam glad that your dad was able to calm you down a bit:) Sometimes all it takes is a calm voice and logical advice to set us straight:) Congrats to your new winners!
