Before I got on the treadmill today, I was in a horrid mood. Shoo slept horribly again last night, I think because he was overtired from not napping for four days. Jones woke me out of a sound sleep at 8, so obviously I didn’t hit the treadmill this morning. It’s that witchy time of the month and I’ve always gotten wicked PMS, although running has helped that quite a bit. Then the boys spent the morning fighting, even though we met up with friends at a park and then brought back one of Jones’ friends for a while before camp.
By the time I dropped Jones off at ice skating camp (the kid can really skate now – after just three days WOW!), I was ready to scream. I made Shoo lay down on his bed with me because I needed a break just as badly as he needed a nap. Not surprisingly, he was out almost instantly.
I decided to really push myself on the treadmill because I NEEDED the endorphins. I did four miles in 35 minutes. Woot! And I feel immensely better. So I guess I only needed the four to snap out of my funk.
My next run is 14 miles on Saturday. I’m planning to try to stay between 10:30 and 11 for the first 10-12 and then speed up a bit for the last 2-4, depending on the heat. My pace for the 10 miler was 9:30. Even the half marathon (which was the worst run I’ve had in my life) I finished at a 10:29 pace, so I think I can do the marathon in under 11 minute miles. We’ll see how I do with the rest of the long runs. I have a hard time running slower than an 11 minute pace at the beginning, so I’ve been instituting more walk breaks than I used to…
Shoo’s waking from his nap. More later
I’m with you chica! The Mr asked what was up and I my response was “PMS” BAH! Horrid time of the month.
That’s a fast 4 miler!
