Last night I started packing for the trip. No, we don’t leave for a few days, but I need to be making progress. For the last 7 years, we haven’t gone on a vacation that didn’t involve at least a few nights at a house or condo with a washer and dryer. (I’m kind of in love with Vacation Rentals By Owner.) I prefer packing light and doing a couple of loads of laundry on vacation.
This trip we will be at a different location every night. Since I’m not a fan of putting my running clothes in the dryer (and I’m not going to have an easy place to hang dry), I went with the new outfit each day option. Also, I can’t risk losing my shoes, so I’m taking a good sized carry on. This is not the norm for me either.
First thing in: my Brooks Pure Flow 2 and Saucony Virratta.
While small compared to what many people take on board these days, this suitcase is big enough to hold 3 of my outfits as well as all the harder to replace things like hats, gloves, handheld water bottle, etc. This left room in my checked bag for the all important travel foam roller LOL.
I know all you fashionistas care, so here are my planned outfits for the five races. Since it’s nearly every piece of cooler weather running clothes I own, my main goal was to not clash too badly.
Pretty sure I won’t get lost in a snowbank in this one…
C9 half zip and shirt
ProCompression Socks
RunningSkirts Pink Pixel Capri
This one’s a bit more understated…
Athleta Luscious half zip
C9 shirt
Athleta Relay capri
Zensah compression sleeves
This one’s a little too reserved. I feel like I might need to wear my pink compression socks…
Brooks Half Zip
C9 shirt
Old Navy capri
CEP compression socks
Gotta give my local store a little love (and perhaps go buy another pair of compression socks there today)…
Nike half zip and shirt
Ella Sport capri
And just to make sure everyone needs to wear sunglasses…
C9 half zip and shirt
Skirt Sports Happy Girl skirt
Recovery Sock compression socks
And just in case, I’m bringing a few other things like an extra skirt (a girl can hope it will be that warm) and tights and arm warmers in case we get a really cold day…
And yes, I did also pack “street” clothes and nuun and glide and a running jacket and…
Guess I’ll be weighing my suitcase before I leave the house.
What are the exact 5 days you are running? Wanna make sure I send you happy, healthy running vibes!!!
Fyi, it’s pretty warm in Kansas right now. Supposed to be 84 tomorrow. Of course, we could have a blizzard by next week…
Good Luck! Pace yourself and don’t go out like mad…or as my coach likes to say don’t go out like an asshole’! Hydrate, get your recovery foods in well and you’ll do great!
What races are you doing?
Don’t forget to pack a “laundry bag”. I do that for double weekends so I can bury my sweaty clothes away. I just use an old race bag from a previous race. Oh, you might consider bringing gallon size bags to separate your outfits, that’s what those Ragnar girls do.
I don’t have 5 pairs of compression socks either. I hadn’t thought about how to pack for this. Nice job, you’ve got it under control.
Love every single one of the outfits! You are going to rock the runs in those things, and definitely be seen! 🙂
You should see my pack jobs, it’s quite an experience. We are heading to Vermont for 2.5 days this weekend and my suitcase is going to be a job in itself, its going to be freezing and snowy and I have to get 2 runs in! Good thing we are driving and I don’t have to worry about weight limit of suitcase!
Hope all this goes great for you! You have earned it.
I think you’re pretty much prepared for any eventuality. I love the green outfit.
