Ok, I know I spend a lot of time whining about hot weather and not liking summer, but that isn’t the real issue today.
Today’s issue is that I really need to do a long run and my only option is to do it today. I loathe doing long runs on the weekend. It totally messes with my day. I don’t enjoy getting up early (note: it’s 7:30am EST and I’m drinking my coffee, so obviously I didn’t manage super early). I don’t enjoy trying to run before our day gets going and I have so much to do (and it’s hot), so during the day is not an option. I need the kids to go back to school so I can go running on “my time” and go back to enjoying my weekends.
I need to do 6.8 miles to finish 30 for the week. I should do 10-12 to get ready for the half marathon. Anyone want to place a be on which mileage I actually manage this morning?
In other news, I’ll announce winners tomorrow. Yesterday was just super busy and I haven’t had a chance to organize the prizes. The response was huge and the cut and paste took me forever (I promise I’ll start commenting again soon, but the virtual race took all of my alloted “MCM Mama” time each day.)
Also? Shoo spent the night at his first sleepover last night. *I* didn’t sleep well, not having my little boy here. He may have been ready, but mama was not.
I don't know how you and so many others did the running in the summer heat thing. I'm ready for fall too.
I'm so ready for the fall too. This Florida heat and humidity is killing me.
My spawn has been out of pre-school all week and it threw a huge wrench in my running schedule. I don't look forward to the days that there is no pre-school to put him in during the summer. It has been nice to see some small glimpses of cooling temps in the morning this past week!
Fall's coming, so hold on little longer! I NEED those cooler temps in the worst way :)I suppose we'll all be glad we put in those miserable miles during the summer's heat and humidity, but goodness it's been a struggle!
I wouldn't mind fall if winter wasn't next :)You are amazing…I don't know how you manage to do all that you do!!
We got a sweet little preview of fall here this past week (a couple of mornings it was in the FIFTIES!!!), and I'M SO READY for it to be here and STAY here!!!
Good luck on the run – cooler miles will be here soon (that's the mantra we keep chanting). Very cute how your boys are growing up. It's the little things like this that pull at my heart π
Do they go back this week? If not, I'm sure it's very soon, not to mention that fall really is close. Speaking of weather, I was kind of bummed that I opted out of Annapolis–they had a great cool temp earlier today for it, which never happens for this race!
A first sleep over! Wow…I cannot imagine that yet, though I have a feeling my days are numbered. I am ready for the fall only in that I am ready for cooler temps–your boys being back in school means that my teaching days are back, and this year, I am not feeling it. I think I got too accustomed to days of my own time and twitter. π
I'm not a fan of waking up early especially to try to beat the heat. Hope the run went okay!
I am not good at the early starts either. I ended up doing my long run on the treadmill until 11pm last night because of it.Good luck getting in the miles. I am a fall/winter person too. Bring on the cool temps!
I do love the cooler weather. Nice that you gave Shoo the confidence to be away yet I am sure he was thrilled to come back to you!
Jaden has been begging for a sleep over. I think 4 1/2 is too early. He reminds me that he'll be five on his next birthday (as if I had forgotten). So far I've found excuses not to allow the sleep over, but I'm sure I won't be able to put it off forever.
I am so with you on the fall. i have been getting up at 430 in the morning to get my runs in and doing my long runs on the weekend. usually my long runs are on Wednesdays during the school year. Thankfully mine are all back in school this week:) Hopefully the hot weather here in NH will be gone by the end of the week.
I am ready for fall too. Just not that season-that-must-not-be-named that follows it. π
I would feel the same way about my boys sleeping at anyone other than family!
Ack! I can't imagine the first sleepover. Hope he (and you!) made out well π
you have a great site here. Interesting posts.Keep it up! and more power! π
