It’s time for the monthly virtual coffee date with Deb and Coco, but this month I had the pleasure of getting to see both of them at a dinner party that Deb threw. So, today we are having wine.

If we were having wine, I’d tell you that it was awesome to meet up with a bunch of local MRTT ladies and a few bloggers at Deb’s house. I got to meet Kim and Linda and also see the other Deb again. Not only was the food great, but the company was amazing. Kim and Linda were in town for the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler, so hopefully they had a great run today.

If we were having wine, I’d also tell you that I volunteered at the Altra booth at the Cherry Blossom expo. I got to try on the new Kayenta (OMG, can’t wait to get a pair) and learn a ton about the dynamics of running and what Altra does differently. The more I learn about this brand, the more I love them. Doesn’t hurt that they are the only shoes I can run in these days…

If we were having wine, I’d also tell you that I woke up stupid early this morning and discovered that working a shoe booth at an expo is different than working other booths. Why? Because I was constantly up and down helping people with their shoes. It was like doing squats for four hours and I was definitely feeling it this morning.

If we were having wine, I’d also tell you that the reason I was up stupid early is that I was volunteering at a water stop at the Runners Marathon of Reston Half with local Ragnar Warriors. This is a crazy hilly course, so I was happy to be on the volunteering end this year. I’m a huge fan of this race as it’s one of the best organized races around. (But you gotta love hills…)

And if we were truly having wine, I’d tell you that I’m struggling to get my run mojo back. I just can’t seem to get past 6 miles without throwing in the towel. There’s really no reason, just a lot of excuses. I’m hoping that next weekend’s half marathon jump starts my mojo. (Yes, I’m running a half marathon on with only a long run of 6 miles. This is what you should not do.)
It’s a beautiful warm day here so I’m going to head out and do some yard work. Apparently 4 hours of squats was not enough. Hope you are having your own amazing weekend.

One day you will have to tell me all about the Altra shoes and why you love them so much. So glad that you were able to hang out with us this weekend. We need to see each other more often!
It was so nice meeting you (FINALLY)!!!! And, my first job out of college was an assistant manager of a shoe store….so my legs and buttocks were screaming at me for the first week of work LOL Had I been a runner then, I would have had ZERO mojo for running at all.
mmm. Wine
I did my Halfs on a long run of six. I lived to tell, but it wasn’t pretty and now I’m trying to do things sanely and build back up correctly.
Your meetup looked like so much fun.
It was great seeing you this weekend! I’m intrigued by Altras but right now am afraid to fix what’s not broken. The Reston Half sounds … interesting. I’m OK with hills, but the half distance is 5k longer than my preference. Maybe if I don’t do Cherry Blossom next year ….
Good luck with your upcoming 1/2!! Have a great race, hopefully it kick starts your running mojo!
It was great seeing you at Deborah’s house! That was such a fun night.
I hope your half went well and you found your running mojo. Did you get a team together for the Ragnar ultra you were recruiting for when we saw each other?
