No, I didn’t have a perfect running month (and the month is not over and I’m sure I won’t follow my plan exactly.) But I did have a smart running month. Before I get into *my* month of running, how was yours? Join us for Tuesdays on the Run and rate your September.
So, why exactly am I rating my month an A+ when I haven’t followed my training perfectly and probably won’t this week either? Well, I did have one week where I *almost* followed my training to a T, but that was just one week.
I’m giving myself an A+ because I listened to my body when I got sick and scaled my running way back for a few days. I have enough experience training for long distances that I knew it was smarter to miss or shorten some runs than to push through and end up in a worse place.
All in all, despite a cold that continues to linger, this month was pretty amazing.
I’m on track to actually break 200 miles in a month for the first time ever.
I got in a surprise 20 mile run.
I ran my 5th Ragnar (3rd Ragnar DC).
I ran a surprisingly fast 5k + 10k combo on a hot day the day after Ragnar.
My last week of the month is my highest mileage week for this training season. I’m a little nervous as I’ve already had to move a few things around. But even if this week doesn’t go as planned (I’m still coughing + we have a crazy schedule with back to school stuff), I’ll still have had one of my strongest marathon training cycles.
But, as I jokingly told my training partner, if I don’t rock MCM, I’m going back to my usual half assed training. Life is so much simpler that way.
How was your month? Are you getting close to your goal fall race?

Listening to our bodies is so important but so damn hard to do! I hope that you rock MCM — you deserve to!
You had BETTER give yourself an A+! What a great month!
You continually amaze me! Just keep on going, my friend!
A “surprise” 20 miler… girl you crazy!!! I’ve run one Ragnar and LOVED it! Good luck at MCM <3
Wow! 200 miles for the month. I am struggling to get my 100 that I like to get. Heck I don’t think I reached that all summer. Good for you!
Seems like you have been on fire lately! Happy running
That sounds like an A++! A surprise 20 mile run?! Definitely deserve at least an A+. Way to go!
You get an A++++
Way to go rock September.
Your racing has always blown my mind 🙂 I love the run, but not so much the races
I’m not sure how one does a “surprise” 20 miler, lol, but sounds like you WILL rock MCM!
What an awesome month of running!
I skipped a run this month, listening to my ankle. Once I determined it wasn’t soft tissue or ligaments, I was back to running. You should rock MCM, you’re doing great with training!
Awesome month – it is amazing that you’ll hit 200 miles! My month has gone pretty well until this week! My unexpected Ragnar experience went well, but I’m experiencing some knee pain after the fact. Thankfully, like you and your cold, I know better than to rest for an extra day or two than to run and let it lead to bigger issues.
Congrats on a great month of running!
Woohoo on a smart running month! I’m totally impressed with your 200+ mileage. Hopefully I can follow in your footsteps ?
Wow! Awesome work on your high mileage month and surprising 5k/10k races! Sounds like you are ready for a really strong race.
Congrats on your month, it’s hard to believe it’s almost over already! 200 miles – what a feat! I can’t even imagine, lol!
Hope you’re feeling better from your cold. Listening to your body is always the smart thing to go. I’ve got my goal half marathon in less than 3 weeks, I’m getting excited!
Your like the Battery Bunny you just keep going and going and going! You totally going to rock MCM! Go get em!
