Happy Saturday! I’m sitting here with a cup of coffee, wondering if there is actually enough coffee in the world to get me through the day. It feels like it’s been raining for years. I know it hasn’t and I know we need at least some of this rain, but I don’t do well with multiple grey and wet days in a row. Anyways, I’m joining up with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for a virtual coffee date.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that instead of running Ragnar Relay, I spent my evening in my nice warm house drinking a pumpkin beer and baking for a recipe post on Monday. While I was a little (tiny) bit sad not to be out with my team, beer and donuts are not such a bad way to spend an evening.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I am completely over (mentally, not physically unfortunately) this cough. Even with the inhalers, I still spend a good bit of the day coughing. I’ve managed a few short runs, including one fast for me run while hopped up on albuterol, but I’m not really training. I’m planning to get in one more 16 mile run on Tuesday, since I really hadn’t planned for a month long taper. Marine Corps Marathon should be interesting. Perhaps it’s time to revisit my post on how to run a race undertrained. Sigh.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that some bozo listed my cell number on a request form. I’ve had so many calls in the last 24 hours by companies wanting to help him that my message now says “If you are calling about x, you have the wrong number. Please do not call back.” The one guy I talked to (who told me what the situation was and confirmed that my number was on the form) told me to expect about 30-40 calls. I’m more than a little bit annoyed.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon was canceled. I’m really sad for the runners and the extra money would have been nice, but getting to sleep past 3am on Sunday morning? I’m completely on board with that.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I need to get moving. Despite a ton of stuff being canceled for the weekend, Shoo still has 2 soccer games and Jones and I are still volunteering for 6 hours this afternoon at Ragnar.
Finally, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the Tuesdays on the Run topic for this week is “novelty runs”. You know – color runs, electric runs, etc. What do you think of them? Have you done one? Tell us about it! And here’s our schedule for the next few weeks since I can’t be relied upon to update the page about it.

Happy Saturday! What would you share with me if we were having coffee???
[Tweet “Join me in the Ultimate Coffee Date today! “]
hope you are feeling better! I’ve never had pumpkin beer either. Wow I am out of the loop huh? It does feel like it’s been raining forever! Thanks for linking up today
Sorry you’re still dealing with your cough – hope you’re getting to the tail-end of it. I cannot believe the mix-up with your cell number – what a pain in the arse! I’m a fan of pumpkin beer – one of many of my fall faves.
Feel better soon~ beer and donuts doesn’t sound like a bad way to spend an evening, maybe a pumpkin beer is what I need to try! Stay dry and enjoy the rest of the weekend and just don’t bother answering your phone, I agree, annoying! 🙂
I’d tell you it was POURING here too! My power just flashed and it took me 30 minutes to get my tv/internet back! 🙁
Good luck with that cough. Those lingering coughs are the worst!!!
Getting that extra rest should help with the cough; volunteering at Ragnar not so much. Get better soon!
Me + race + undertrained – doesn’t end well. My knee relies on that training!
I would like to volunteer at a race but haven’t gotten around to seriously looking into how to do it yet. It is definitely on my list of things to do over the next few months. I think it would be a great way to experience a race.
I hate the phone number thing. I’ve had my cell phone for 5 years now and I still occasionally get calls for the woman who had it before me – bill collectors. They seem to think I know who she is or how to get ahold of her. Ugh. Beer and donuts, you are my kinda woman. Good luck recovering from the cough. They take so long. I feel like I am recovered from mine, but in a race today I was wheezing so loud that at first I thought my bike was making a weird noise…then I realized it was my lungs.
Probably just as well that race was cancelled with your cough and all. And a little bit extra sleep never hurts.
Hmmm I’m not a fan of pumpkin-flavor stuff (other than the real thing – you know, pumpkin), but I might be willing to try Pumpkin Beer! Sorry to hear about Ragnar DC – I bet a lot of people pulled out of the event, sounds like the conditions are tough!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you to try the Roadsmary’s Baby (from Two Roads Brewing) for next pumpkin beer and donuts evening – there will obviously be another one of those, right?? I’d also tell you that you that I agree with you about the rain – rain should never be on consecutive days because people just don’t need that kind of sad. And finally, I would tell you that I’m sorry you’re not feeling well!! Get some sleep – it always helps. 🙂
We had a pumpkin beer that tasted like pumpkin instead of just the spices – now if only I could remember which one it was! I hope your cough goes away before MCM!
RAGNAR was amazing. Sorry you missed it. Seeing you waves us in to the exchange was a nice surprise. Thanks for volunteering!
Those donuts look really good! I’ll have to check out your Monday post for the recipe!
I hope your cough goes away soon! My husband likes to tell the story that when he visited his older brother in college and then later on too…they’d have donuts and beer for supper. Sounds good to me.
Dang, I hope you feel better. That cough is usually the very last thing on me to leave even though I feel better.
that my weekend was amazing and amazingly filled with insights into my life.
