January Runfessions: Month 13 of 2020

January 29, 2021 by MCM Mama 7 Comments

I can’t believe we are already at the end of January! It’s been a jampacked month of work and kids and house stuff and, sadly, not a whole lot of running. But I have high hopes for February on the running front… Today I’m joining Coach Marcia (you know she’s ZOOMA’s coach, right?) for some ‘fessions. Runfessions and lifefessions ahead…

We are only a month into the year and I must runfess that I’m already struggling with one of my goals. I signed up for Run the Year 2021, with a plan to run 1200 miles and walk the remainder. This month I haven’t even hit a combined 100 miles yet. (In my defense, Michigan was way slippier than I expected). I do have to run a 25K this weekend (I NEED the pint glass), so I’ll break 100, but I have some catching up to do.

I must also runfess that while I hope to run more in person events this year, I am still being tempted by virtuals. OK, by one virtual in particular. I did the MCM trifecta last year in loops in my neighborhood. They’ve announced that the trifecta is coming back, which means even if I do the marathon in person (fingers crossed!), I would need to do the 50k on my own. Clearly I have issues because I’m really really tempted.

I must also runfess that I’ve been sitting here not so calmly waiting to hear from Altra. I’ve been really cutting back on my ambassadorships (in part because I actually work for two of my favorite companies…), but I LOVE Altra shoes and I’m a huge fan of the company. I was a bit worried this year as I am normally really involved locally with expos and such, but yeah, 2020. I’m very thankful that yesterday I got the invite back for what I think is my 7th year representing.

Finally, I must runfess that January has kicked my butt. It was a good month, but it was an exhausting month. Jones is safely up at school and seems to be thriving despite the tight rules. Shoo and I had a nice trip there and back and are happy to be back at home. (But OMG, 10 days of laundry for 3 people… I’ve been home since Sunday and it’s just finally done.) Work has been awesome, but crazy. We launched a new (smaller) season at Skirt Sports plus all the normal ZOOMA stuff we have going on, so everyone has a lot on their plates. (Who know I’d end up working for my favorite clothing brand???) Shoo’s loft bed broke two nights ago and Pottery Barn has been all sorts of unhelpful. Guess it’s a good thing we have an extra bedroom right now…

So yeah, I thought I’d run a lot more this month and I thought I’d actually blog, but well, sometimes real life takes over. Thankfully, despite the craziness, I’ve maintained my sense of humor…

I said that I was over virtual races as well but I do have one next week as well. Congrats on the Altra team!

Hey, a sense of humor is paramount (and not just during pandemic times). Congrats on the Altra R.E.D. Team (again). It’s great to have a brand that loves you back as much as you love them 😉

I had to laugh at your title because so far 2021 feels just like all of 2020,,,right?
Congrats on being an Altra ambassador again. You represent the brand well!

Congrats on being on the team again! 100 for this month is pretty good. I am sure you’ll get to 1,200 for this year. There is still time to do it.

Dang that is a sweet pint glass. I think I’d be banging out the miles for that one. Congrats on the Altra gig. I too have been culling ambassadorships a lot. Yeah Michigan is icy. We are icy too. My trails are no longer viable for running. And we’ve got 11″ more snow due in starting tomorrow afternoon. Good times.

I said no more virtuals. Signed up for three.

Still hoping to do more in person races thus year.

I applied for two ambassadorships. Got neither. Oh well.
