It’s that time of the month. No, not that one. The one where Marcia, Patty, and I rate our month in running as part of Tuesdays on the Run and we hope that you’ll join us.
I have to admit that I’m not sure how to rate this month. The last Tuesday falls kind of early – this last week could totally make or break me LOL.
I’ve had some good runs. I’ve had some awful runs. But up until I got the stomach bug last week, I was nailing my Marine Corps Marathon training plan. If you’ve followed me in previous years, you’d know that I really struggle with managing all the runs in the heat of a Virginia summer. My trick this year? A running buddy.
We ran in the rain…
We ran in the heat…
We ran stupid early…
I’ve finally found someone that I love to run with when I’m having a good run and I still love to run with when I’m having a crappy run. And on hot days, she brings me cold water and iced wash cloths for after the run. (Yes, it’s like having your own personal running angel.) She’s also my personal photographer.
So, despite the rough weekend and my uncertain upcoming week, I’m going to give this month an A. If nothing else, it was an A for effort LOL.
How has your month of July gone so far?

Yay for the running buddy! I can see where she makes runs better. Keep her around for the winter runs too!
Running buddies are great. And so hard to find the right one! Hope you’re feeling better. Boo to stomach bugs.
I have a running buddy too this year which is great! But actually we haven’t been running together lately–she doesn’t want to do my run/walk intervals. We have been doing crossfit together and that’s pretty nice too. Its fun to have a partner in crime (or misery!)
Summer running is hard for me too. It definitely helps having a running buddy!
Looks like you are having a great month of running to me. It’s been challenging out there for sure w the weather
I’m still in my off season, but I have gotten runs in, with a little bit of biking. I’m still skipping days here and there because I can. Once training starts, I really won’t be able to.
It’s so great to have a running buddy. One of the things I miss most about living in a more urban area.
Having a running buddy is always nice! My boyfriend has been my buddy recently, he’s been a great motivator! I think I’d give July a B. My main focus was to enjoy the off-season!
Oh yeah, a good running buddy can make all the difference! Hope you’re feeling better!
