Now that the marathon is over, I’ve stopped getting up early on Saturdays to run. I’m not a morning person and that was perhaps the hardest part of marathon training for me. Jones had his last soccer game of the season at 9:45 and Shoo had a birthday party from 11-1, so the morning was out. Jones made me promise to take him out with his bike again, so I pretty much wrote the day off and figured I’d run tomorrow.
Beer Geek surprised me and took the boys to a park to ride, leaving me in a quiet house all by myself. I considered enjoying that quiet, but managed to find my inner runner and decided to go for a four mile run. (One of the best things about the marathon training is that I now have two 3 mile routes, a 4 mile route, a 5 mile route, and two 6 mile routes that I can run without Garmin). Garmin needs a charge, so I just threw on some running clothes and headed out the door with my stopwatch.
It was a great run. The weather was nice and I just ran at a comfortable pace and enjoyed myself. Other than an old lady hitting me in the head with stick, it was an uneventful run. (She was raking and tossed a stick towards the street without looking and hit me right in the forehead LOL). I ran 4ish miles in about 38 minutes, so it was a nice pace and a nice run.
Now if I could just find a place where I could run and Jones could bike and a way to keep Shoo occupied in the running stroller…
Nice run! Minus the part where you got clobbered by the stick!
Ah yes…running just to run, not to train. Heaven! Except when you get hit with a stick. Guess that’s just to make sure you’re paying attention. LOL
OMG!! What in tha?!? I hope she apologized. Geez.
