Today was my last “long” run. (I just love how marathon training makes eight miles seem short LOL). It’s chilly here today, so I kept a pretty good pace to keep warm. I finished in 1:14:53, which is a 9:22 pace. So, why exactly was it a lazy run? Well, as I’ve mentioned before, I live in a rather hilly area. Today, I did everything possible to avoid the big hills. I just wanted a nice, easy run before the marathon. My path, on a map, looks like a drunk figured out my route LOL.
Yesterday Shoo napped, so I got a quick 3 miler in on the treadmill. It took me 26:30, which is a pretty decent time for me. My next race after the marathon is the 5K turkey trot in my neighborhood. I need to start some speed training becuase if there is ever a race I have a chance of winning my age/gender bracket, that’s the one.
Stay tuned for lots of interesting posts next week. I’ll only be running two more real runs before the marathon, so I’ll have plenty of time on my hands to come up with nonsensical crap to talk about. Things like race strategy, weight issues, whether I should continue hiding the gray, what new races I want to consider… Oh, yeah, lots of exciting topics.
Can you believe it??? We are SO close!! You closer than I am but still!!!I postponed my 10 miler from today to tomorrow, as I’ve had a bad last couple of days with very little sleep and hydration…I just couldnt bear the thought of bonking on my run this morning, hence the decision!!!
I don’t think you recorded that 3 miler time right. I know YOU can do 3 miles in less than 36 minutes.Nice job on the 8! I can’t believe MCM is already so close!
Oh my gawd! YOU ARE SO CLOSE!! WHOOO HOOOOOO!! How exciting! I’m stoked for you chica! ;D ;D
I have yet to run a marathon so I haven’t had 20 mile runs (yet!), but 8 just sound minute compared to 20 :)My 10-mile run today probably is a joke to you π
It will be here soon! Hope the marathon goes well for you.8 miles is my favorite distance to run. I think I’m going to keep doing those once a month even in the off season. Well, when my knee stops hurting and I can run again, that is. π
Good luck with your marathon! You now have write privileges to the Shirt That Races blog, so post away that race report. Have a great week! π
I can’t believe your race is right around the corner. Wow. It is funny how marathon training can make 8 miles seem like a short run.Nice job on the runs.
If we all had Marcy’s energy, we’d BQ every time we ran! Good luck getting through your taper, and especially on the MCM! Just have fun and don’t regret anything. Just getting to the starting line is a huge accomplishment.
I’m laughing out loud right now because I also used quotes around the word long on my Facebook post regarding my 8 miler. Funny thing is, in the dead of icy winter, 8 miles is usually my long run. Here’s some stuff to write about this week: what you’re going to wear, how you’re sleeping, how’s the taper going, are you grouchy (I am) and of course, the weather. Have fun resting and hydrating, looking foward to running with you on Sunday! (Well, I won’t be with you, I’ll definitely be behind you.)
Be sure to send me your name and address via snail mail so I can send the shirt to you today! I want you to have it on time!
good luck with the shirt and your marathon.
Sounds like you are handling your taper perfectly. Get ready to rock out that marathon! Good luck!
Yeah, I’m guessing that 36:30 is 26:30? That’s a darn nice pace on the 8 miler. You’re so close!
I’m a heeeuge believer in posting nonsensical stuff. π
