Good morning! I’m actually shocked I got up before my kids today, but I think the snow plows woke me up. There’s just something wrong with hearing snow plows early on a Saturday morning. In March. In Virginia. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Anyways, that means I’m up in time to have virtual coffee with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I need that entire truck up there to get me moving these days. The combination of running lots of miles (I did 17 miles and 10 miles back to back last week) plus kids out of school for snow and sickness plus just having a few too many things on my plate has my schedule completely discombobulated. I’ve been going to bed too late even for me. Yawn.
If we were having coffee, I’d also tell you that I FINALLY bought a new coffee pot. I’ve been hemming and hawing over what to buy to replace the one that broke LAST month. Know what I got? Pretty much the exact same thing I had before. All that thought for nothing LOL. On a sadder note, I found out last week that Peet’s coffee will no longer be roasting coffee for Godiva. My beloved chocolate coffee is all gone. I’ve switched over to DD chocolate donut, but it’s just not the same.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m so happy that the snow is supposed to melt over the next few days. I’m tired of wearing half of my running wardrobe every time I run and black ice is not my friend. I’ve covered the same roads in my neighborhood more times than I care to think about. It’s just in time too – on Friday I’m running 18 miles and then on Saturday I have RNR DC. (If you want to join me, you need to register today or tomorrow! Use code MCMMAMARUNSRNR for $15 off!)
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that next week is the signup for the Marine Corps 17.75. I’m nervous and excited at the same time. This is the race that when you finish, they give you the golden ticket that gets you into the Marine Corps Marathon. It sells out crazy fast, so I have alarms set on my computer and phone to remind me to be ready. If I don’t get in that way, I’ll be entering the lottery as well. I know training through the Virginia summer won’t be awesome (BTDT), but I can’t wait to get a buddy for my 2008 medal.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m taking the boys home to Wisconsin for part of spring break. I really wish we were not going north. Don’t get me wrong. I can’t wait to see my parents and I need to visit my grandmothers who are quite elderly and having health issues. But I want to be warm, darnit! I’m so tired of being cold and seeing snow and grey and… I want sun and beaches and shorts and running in cute skirts! (I know, I’ll be whining about the summer here all too soon…)
Finally, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the Tuesdays on the Run topic is “weight loss or maintenance during long distance training”. I know I’m not the only one who struggles not to pack on the pounds when I’m marathon training. I don’t have quite as much trouble with half marathon training, unless I’m training for a back to back series. Join us and share your experience and tips.
Remember, if you link back to us, you can add ANY running related post and it doesn’t have to be written on Tuesday. So, we’ll see you there, right???
Happy Saturday! What would you share with me if we were having coffee???

Just when you’re needing more coffee to get moving, and I’m finding lately that I need less. Maybe that’s a good thing?
I love your Tuesday link ups! Not sure I’d have anything to contribute, I am just starting to get longer runs in my HM training, but I am only at 8. Maybe I can search for some links to other info and share those 🙂

You should get daughter/granddaughter of the year for going to Milwaukee for spring break. I won’t tell you that my friends just got stuck there an extra few days because their flights home were canceled …. It looks like you stocked up on coffee!

I am so done with the snow! Yesterday I ran at Manassas Battlefield; it was completely snow covered and I questioned my sanity and not bringing snowshoes several times. I’ve made friends with my treadmill again, but like you I’m so ready for some better rilunning weather! I think this has been the worst winter for marathon training. Good luck getting into MCM 17.75 – I hate how competitive the process of getting into some races is these days.
