March Coffee Date – Lion or Lamb

March 3, 2019 by MCM Mama 5 Comments

Here we are, one month closer to being done with winter. I generally don’t mind winter, but this has been one of the rainiest that I can remember and I’m pretty much over that. But I’ve had a lot going on, so grab a big cuppa and we’ll chat with Deb and Coco‘s and catch up on things.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that last week was one heck of a roller coaster. There were just so many things up in the air. On the bright side, we got tickets to Savor again, Jones got accepted to something he really wanted, and I got into MCM 50k.

That’s right! I’ll be running my first 50k this fall instead of the Marine Corps Marathon. And Beer Geek didn’t believe me when I told him I would not be running the marathon.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that part of what’s cool about running the 50k (besides the fact that it’s my beloved MCM) is that I’ll be between my 49th and 50th birthdays. I think it will be the kickoff of some really cool plans leading up to by birthday, possibly ending with my first 50 miler.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this winter has been cray cray. Lots of “maybe we’ll get snow” warnings. For some reason, our school district is calling delays early and closing when we least expect it. My kids had a day off last week where there was no snow and it wasn’t even that cold. I’ve never been so surprised to see a “school’s closed” text. I don’t know that my middle schooler has been to a full week of school since sometime in December…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m pretty excited to be heading to Texas for the ZOOMA Lost Pines race. I love race weekend – it’s really the best part of the job. And I’m not upset that it’s warmer in Texas than in Virginia. I look forward to running the Women’s Day Virtual race while I’m down there as well. (Want to join me virtually? If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I once I get back from Texas, I need to figure out a training plan. I have two spring half marathons and an ultra Ragnar between now and the 50k. Knowing how much I just love doing long runs by myself, I need to find some fun races to help me get in decent mileage again.  What’s your favorite summer race within a couple of hours of DC???

I’m pretty sure that the next month is just going to fly by. I’m traveling to Texas, I have my favorite short race the next weekend, then I’m running my 78th half marathon, and then my parents are coming for a weekend. Hopefully I’ll manage to blog again before the end of the month!

I knew you would go right for the 50K! Happy training. Texas Zooma sounds like lots of fun. I will be doing the virtual this week. Thanks for catching up with coffee

That school closing Friday was NUTS! I am so excited for you and Rachel to do the 50K. I hope I can be involved in your carb-loadining plans. 🙂

In August, I love a good double race weekend with the River Valley Run 15K on Saturday and the Leesburg 20K on Sunday… the perfect training weekend for MCM weekend!

Don’t you just hate when life interferes with blogging, LOL?

Having lots of fun things on the schedule is a good thing!

Who is MCM Mama?
A slightly obnoxious mom and wife who loves good beer and running, who struggles a bit with depression especially in the winter and when running isn’t allowed, who’d rather go on a fun vacation than upgrade the kitchen or add a master bath, and has a minor addiction to the Marine Corps Marathon.
