OK, I admit I do have a few things between me and the actual race, but yesterday I managed to get registered for the Marine Corps 17.75. If you get in (it sold out in about 7 minutes!) and you FINISH the race, you get the golden ticket AKA an entry into the Marine Corps Marathon!!!
Now I just need to figure out how to train around this race. It’s right at the end of one of my heaviest training weeks – I’m supposed to run 19 and 15 back to back. 17.75 K is only 11 miles + Shoo has a field trip + the boys and I leave that night for my parents… I have a feeling that week is going to be 19, 15, 4, 11, 3. Oy. At least it will be good training for when I run back to back races followed by Ragnar 5 days later.
Why, yes, I have entered a new level of crazy…
Speaking of crazy training weeks, I’m running 18 miles on Friday and then running RNR DC half marathon on Saturday. Meanwhile, Shoo has a Friday night event, Jones has district assessment for Orchestra on Saturday, and then we have a beer dinner on Sunday. At least soccer season hasn’t started yet.
Congrats on getting into the 17.75K! Amazing that closed in 7 minutes.
Wow, the 17.75 sold out in only 7 minutes?!? That’s almost as nuts as how quickly Disney races sell out!
7 minutes? And I thought Disney races sold out fast. Yay for you for getting in.
That is an odd distance, no? Have never heard of it… but have a great time. I am sure you will do well.
Congrats on getting in! I’m feeling a little crazy just reading all of this. Wow you must have one helluvan endurance base with all these miles. Go you!
Woot! How fun!! What a great and amazing race to get into!
Damn I didn’t know that was yesterday. I had heard about this way of getting into MCM I just figured that race had already passed haha. That’s awesome for you though!!
Wooo…your schedule sounds cray-cray! Hopefully all the running is keeping you sane enough to deal! Congrats on getting into the race!
7 minute sell out! That’s insane. What’s the significance of the 17.75k?
Super exciting! Congrats 🙂
You’ll work it out and get it done. You always do.
7 mins?! Wow! Congrats on getting in!
Your weekend sounds insane. Good luck at RnR!
Yey congrats!! So exciting! Hope to see you Saturday!
Good luck with your training and the half! You have such awesome things happening right now!! Who knew there was a 17.75? Sounds fun!
Congrats! I’m going to live vicariously through your race calendar. MCM has been on my to run list forever.
That sounds like a lot going on. Be sure to make it your business together some bodywork and rehab properly between those races!
Wow! No wonder I was thinking of you today. Good luck on RNR DC! But why on Earth did you ALSO have to do 18 miles yesterday? Omg I’m really behind!!
I hope the 18 miler followed by RnR half went well! That’s quite the challenge. Still, good training for that back to back 19 and 15! The 17.75K will feel relatively easy in comparison. Hope the rest of your weekend went well – beer dinner sounds fun! I have a swim team meeting…not as much fun.
MCM was my very first marathon, back in 2007! It seems registration has gotten VERY competitive these days!!
Awesome for making it into MCM!!
