You will not often hear the words “wake up early” and “run” in the same sentence in my life. I am not a morning person. I could easily sleep most of the day away. Even with kids, I often don’t get up until 8am on the weekends and will sleep later when I can get away with it. (Those of you without kids may not realize that 8 is late, but it is.)
The boys went back to school today, but on a delayed schedule, so Shoo was only going to be at preschool for one hour and 50 minutes. When you factor in drop off and pick up time, that left about an hour and a half. Yes, I can run 7 miles in an hour and a half and maybe even get in a shower, but I just wasn’t feeling like I wanted the pressure. So, this morning, I got up when Beer Geek got up at 5:45 and was on the treadmill by 6:10. I knocked out a 7 mile progressive run with an average pace of 9:43. It wasn’t awesome or amazing, but it was ok and it was done right as Shoo woke up. Perfect.
I’ve received a little bit of sunshine from both
Marlene and TMB at
Racing with Babes! Thanks! I’m passing it on to the most recent 12 commenters on my last post. I honestly would like to give it to all my commenters, because you have truly helped me maintain my sanity while dealing with all this snow.
Finally, a giveaway update! I am swamped and feeling a bit pressured these days. 10 days of barely leaving the house have really put me behind on some projects. Because of that, I’ve decided to postpone my BIG (ie Beer Is Good) giveaway until May. Why May? Because my 2 year blog anniversary, my 2nd marathon, and Beer Geek’s and my 15th anniversary all happen within a few days of each other in mid-May. So stick around for what will hopefully be a really awesome giveaway.

To tide you over, I’ve got a little something. The good folks at
nuun sent me a care package to share with my readers. I’ve mentioned my addiction in the past. I love this stuff!!! So, check back tomorrow or maybe Thursday (what can I say?, I’m indecisive) for the details!
Aww thanks so much for the lovely sunshine! I love sunshine π
so not a morning runner either. I can't drag myself out of bed. Awesome job on the progression run! Those are my favorite.
Apparently this giveaway will have nothign to do with beer, hence I am not interested.
I always have the best intentions of getting up early and getting a run in, but then I sleep instead.
Way to bang it out early! I am terrible except in the morning, so I can absolutely appreciate that we all have our preferred time to get it done. 8am. Ah. I've got to admit, that sounds like heaven!
WOW 8 A.M! you are a lucky lady! 8am to me is like sleeping all day! and great job getting up early it was not until I started running in the afternoons that I decided maybe running was not so bad….5:25 a.m and me we just were not working out! (pun intended)
Thanks for the sunshine!Nice job on the early morning run – and on the treadmill, impressive!
nice work! and yes, 8am would be considered a sleep-in around here too…unfortunately…
Way to get that run done this morning, before Shoo woke up! π
LOVE NUUN! I'll be tuning in. ;)Great job on the early AM run… I need to do that tomorrow. It requires a 5AM wake up call. Eeek.
AHHHHHH The love!!! I'm feeling it, or should I say the sunshine!!! Thanks Mama!
Okay, tried to put on my blog, I am tech idiot, can't seem to do it…can anyone help?
I'm trying to like nuun. Maybe if I won, I'd have the chance to like it more. Just sayin'.
I'm not a morning person either … in fact I've named this year "2010, the year of Lisa sleeping", as I consciously try and sleep more (so I'm not falling asleep driving home from work at midnight). Anyway, well done on an early morning run … I bet it feels good to get it out of the way! And yay for school going back π
It's tough to get it done in the morning, but great when you can go the rest of the day knowing it is over and feeling great because of it!
Glad your routine is starting to get back to normal. Let's hope that's it for storms your way.
When I finally have kids I will prolly be up before them to work out. My mom did it and still does now. She would be up with my dad, exercise then be back by the time he left for work then help me get ready for work. It is hard though if you aren't a morning person. I wasn't a morning person at all until college…weird how that worked!
Awesome run girl. I am not an early morning exerciser but I'd definitely rather do it before lunch time. I completely understand ya about 8 being late! 7:30 is sleeping in to me! π
Love the Sunshine :)And I LOVE LOVE Nuun..May is a good month for a Giveaway…I am bound to win because after my Marathon on 5/2 I will need an adult beverage π
You were able to get in a great run today- yay! Sunshine is good! Sounds like things are veering towards normalcy. π
Im really lucky … Brooke sleeps till 7 or later. I'm lucky compared to many of my mommy peers π I fight tooth and nail against getting up earlier than she does, so I get where you are coming from!
Thanks for the sunshine π with all the rain we've had lately here, I've been missing the sun. Great work on the early treadmill run. That long of a run o. The treadmill is impressive!
Right now… running and wake up early would not fit in the same sentence for me either!
Thanks for the sunshine! Hoping that you also put this sunshine order in with the weatherman!Hooray for kids back in school!
hallelujah! the kids are back in school and your life can get back to normal.
I find mornings tough, too. This is my first time to comment, but I enjoyed your post and I look forward to coming back and reading regularly!
Sleeping until 8 sounds like heaven to me!
I hate getting up early to run, but there is something nice about having the run done for the day when the babe wakes up, right? Oh, question about Nuun, I noticed that it upset my stomach. Is this b/c it has sugar-free stuff in it?
Thanks for the sunshine! I can't run before my kids get up but sometimes I will let them watch cartoons while I run a few miles. It takes longer to warmup in the morning but I love knowing it's done.
Thanks for the Sunshine! I'm so glad that you're getting back into a regular routine. Let's lock up all the peeps that have been doing their snow dances. We got word on how we're making up our (so far) 4 snow days and it includes 5 weeks of extended school days. NO MORE SNOW!!!
