I got up at 4:30am on Sunday morning to volunteer at the GW Parkway Classic. After a night full of anxiety dreams (I dreamt that I fell back to sleep and missed the event and that Kathy took my t-shirt away. I also dreamt that I couldn’t count to 55 and kept putting the wrong number of people on the buses LOL), I headed over to Pentagon City. My task? To help load the approximately 1000 runners on the buses in Arlington to get them to the race start at Mount Vernon. It was completely dark out when we started.
I can’t remember the last time I saw the sun rise and this particular day was no exception LOL. It was grey and rainy, so it still seemed pretty dark even towards the end.
The runners were, generally speaking, in a good mood and cooperative. This wouldn’t be the DC area if we didn’t have a few Type A personalities *roll eyes*, but overall, it went really smoothly. Great job, Pacers! It was just starting to rain when we finished, so I headed home. Beer Geek snapped a quick picture of me and then I jumped on the treadmill.
I would love to volunteer in the near future. Would be funny to be on the other side of the planning. LOVe the huge shirt. Thanks for your comment…

I gave my bib away and didn't run, but thanks from the guy who did. Also, that shirt is awesome. Like a bicycle built for 2.Congrats on your high milage week! Keep rocking the taper!
Congrats on the 40 miles for the week!! Taper time!
Congrats on your first 40 mile week. The first time I got that high I ended up having to take the rest of the month light because of ITB issues. Sounds like you trained properly.
Great job on 40 miles this week! Amazing!
What a fun volunteer gig! I try to volunteer at a couple of events per year to give back; I so appreciate everyone out there when I am on the course. Thanks for stopping by and offering support for Amanda's challenge! I made strides today with "using the phone, instead of email" – it's working.
Congrats on the first 40 mile week! I thought you were supposed to be tapering 😉 Liking the shirt 🙂
