Some day I’d like to start this post with “It’s been such a lovely, calm week.” This is not that week, so I’m going to join Jill, Nikki, and Lynda at the Ultimate Coffee Date and make you listen to the crazy that is my life. I promise if you leave a comment about the crazy in your life to make me feel better, I’ll commiserate with you.
So, before I do the mind dump that is my usual, what’s up with you? Got some races coming up? Work going well? Kids doing anything exciting? Here’s what’s going on in my life…
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that tomorrow morning I have to be on the course of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon at 4 am. This means waking up between 2:00am and 2:30am. I’ll be setting three alarms, but really I’m likely to just not fall asleep. (Related: I kept waking up last night, panicked that I was late. Then I’d remind myself that the race is Sunday. This resulted in a rough night of no sleep. I’m already tired and I know I’ll get little sleep Saturday night. I’m pretty much going to be wiped on Sunday afternoon.)
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that lately I’ve been really struggling with my runs. They are slow and uncomfortable and I don’t seem to want to even do them. I’m really having a hard time with this as usually running is something I WANT to do and it works as an anti-depressant for me. It’s really not a good thing when running isn’t bringing me to my happy place.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that word on the street is that I’ll be running Ragnar Cape Cod next spring. That’s a long ways away and life can always get in the way, but the team I ran Ragnar DC with is already registered. I’m pretty excited because Beer Geek and I are planning to make a week of it to celebrate our 20th Anniversary! (Yes, mom and dad, I do need you to watch the kids…)
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I “had” to stop at one of the local stores with a great beer selection. I loved that I was able to buy more than a case of beer and they were all dark beers. Yes, my favorite time of beer is here. ;o) Porters and stouts and browns, oh my. Pretty sure it’s time for a Favorite Fall Beers post.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that last night we went to Mad Fox Brewery for dinner and I had the most amazing salad. It was arugula, corn, almonds, blackberries, and avocado. Unfortunately, I think there was dairy in the dressing as I woke up stuffy this morning. (I refuse to believe that maybe beer is my problem. I will just live the rest of my life with a stuffy nose. I will not give up my beer. I just won’t.)
And now that I’ve talked your ear off and we’ve finished our coffee, I’m off to continue my day. We’ve already cleaned cages for a local cat rescue league. Still have one soccer game and a run to go, but for a fall Saturday, life is actually pretty calm. Maybe I’ll even get a nap in…
Have a great weekend!
I’m struggling with my runs too – as you said, it’s no good if running doesn’t bring me to a happy place. Hopefully it’s just a phase…right? I had a feeling you’d be doing another Ragnar! – should be great on the Cape in the spring!
Congratulations on the Woodrow Wilson Half tomorrow! My girlfriend is also running in that race. She did an awesome job training!!!!
Thanks – I’m not running it. I’ll be working the last third of the course, making sure nothing goes wrong.
I see a lot of beer in my future – kid sitting fees , you know!
Yes. We need to have a calendar discussion when you are here.
I always have that same thing happen to me the night before a race. I never sleep either and always think I’ve over slept. Maybe your feeling blah on your runs bc you miss running with our group? :). I’m joining for coffee too but my server has been down all day so hope you’ll stop by later or tomorrow.
I’ve just been slammed with work and school commitments since school started. I’m hoping to see things start calming down next week.
I hope you get a bit of sleep tonight. Two bad nights in a row is just setting you up for a very, very long week.
I’m drinking a beer to hopefully quiet my mind. Crawling in bed at 10 and getting as much sleep as my body will give me. Otherwise, yes, next week will be a long week.
How did the half go? I’m sure you were amazing! I’ve tried so many times to make the date work with life to run a Ragnar and now you’re already planning to run another one. I must be doing something wrong haha!
I struggled with my runs last week but yesterday seems to have been a turn around. I hope it lasts!
It was great getting together for coffee 🙂
How was your half? You are funny about the beer! That would be like me giving up wine, yeah just won’t happen. A little stuffy nose never killed anyone! 🙂 Feels like a little cooler weather in Florida this morning so I have a big smile on my face this morning! Enjoy your Sunday, hope you got a nap in! See you next time!
Hope you didn’t oversleep this morning and you had a great race!!! The weather is a little chilly, but beautiful today!
I so wish I could get on a Ragnar team, good lord, I have tried and can’t seem to connect to one in this area. So bummer. I have two half marathons next year {Zooma Napa} and {Napa to Sonoma} one in June and one in July, if I can squeeze another in, I will do so. I wish I could up my speed with running, I have been trying to, but with a pulled muscle it has been very difficult to even lace up and get out there.
I hope you did well on your half, you must have gone home and slept 🙂
Thanks for having coffee with us…
Oooh Cape Cod! I love CC, I want to do a race up there sometime soon!
