Marcia over at the Healthy Slice is advocating making one small change each week to better your life.
I have been far from consistent about blogging about “one small change”, but I’ve actually been doing a pretty good job with the changes. I blogged about my steps towards managing stress. I continue to do fairly well with that. For the next week or so, I attempted to deal with another thing that is stressing me out: the disarray in my house. It seems like there is just stuff everywhere. I did pretty well with that until last weekend, but with the two half marathons + extra kids in our house, I just got behind again. I need to stay more on top of random items that come into the house and keep reminding my kids to help with the nightly straightening. (We’ll get there. Just need to be persistent.)
So, what’s this week’s small change? Being more social.
I work from home for a virtual company. My kids are in school all day. Most of my friends work at least part time. My regular running buddy from last school year moved to Germany. Some days I talk to no one between kid drop off and pick up. Some days I only talk to cashiers in stores.
As a definite extrovert, this was.killing.me.
I recently joined two different chapters of Moms Run This Town and it’s made a huge difference already. So many people to run with during the day. So many moms to meet up with for socializing.
And they are all runners. And moms. So they get me.
Which is exactly what I need.

I don’t know what I’d do without my moms to run with. I hate it when I have to miss out on a run. I need the social club aspect of it. I’m glad you got connected with some local people that can run when you can. You are lucky to have a bit of a flexible schedule.

I just found MRTT and have done 3 runs now — maybe I will see you at one of the runs! I am the odd one out since my kids are older but the women are great!

I work from home by myself too and I really miss having someone to talk to a lot of the time. That’s why the running group and coffee dates with friends are just so important. I’m glad you’ve found your social outlet.

I’d love some MRTT action around here. I’m excited to be kicking off Elf4Health soon. Should be fun! Thanks for linking up!
