I’ve been worrying for a few weeks now about this week. Beer Geek goes out of town later in the week and Jones is only in an art class for an hour and a half a day. This leaves very little time (with drop off, pickup, drive time) to get Shoo down for a nap, much less actually run during said nap. I was pretty convinced this was the week that I’d miss a run or two.
Surprisingly, I seem to have worked it out. I’ll run four miles tomorrow when Beer Geek comes home from work. Then I’ve hired the neighbor’s college age son to watch the boys for a couple of hours on Wednesday and Thursday, so I can get in a 7 miler and a four miler, respectively. If all goes well, I plan to hire him next week as well so I can run and to take us to the airport. Gosh, this marathon training is getting expensive.
Speaking of expensive, I just bought myself not one, but two new pairs of running shoes. I need a new pair and Beer Geek needs a new pair of walking shoes. Finish Line had his shoes on clearance and my shoes on sale and I had a coupon that required spending a certain amount to get 20% off. So, rather than filling my cart with things I don’t really need, I figured I’ll eventually wear out two pairs. :o) I got two different colors in hopes that I can keep track of the mileage on each pair. This also solves the problem of the too small shoes at my parent’s house as I’ll be able to take my old pair there to wear. See, I can justify just about any money I spend.
Also, I joined Quadrathon’s weight loss challenge. I’m in great shape, but I’m tired of the pudge that’s preventing me from wearing some of my favorite shorts. I can’t seem to do it on my own, so I’m hoping the competition will get me to lose a few pounds (or at the very least, stop the slow gain).
I also keep 2 pairs and rotate them. Kicks are probably the only thing I do not feel guilty buying. I KNOW I’ll use them 😉
And YAY for joining the Challenge. You know I’m going to win, right? LOL JK!!
You can’t go wrong by buying two pairs. And buying them in two different colors is just smart!
