This morning at church, the pastor did a children’s sermon on taking care of pets (a tie in with the Jesus as our shepherd sermon). Both of my boys went up for it. When he asked for different ways that we take care of our pets, Jones was happy to provide an answer. He told the pastor about Pete throwing up (he’s done this his whole life and his nickname is Pukin’ Petey). So, the pastor said “so, when he throws up, you help by cleaning up, right?” Jones’ response: No, we couldn’t find it. Needless to say, there was quite a bit of laughter. The pastor tried to move on and talked about bringing pets in from the cold and taking them out for walks. Not to be topped by Jones, Shoo had to make sure the pastor knew Pete was an indoor cat. Then another little boy interrupted to tell the pastor he didn’t have a pet. Somehow, I don’t think he’ll be using this particular theme for the children’s sermon again. LOL
Out of the mouths of babes
It’s a chilly, rainy day here today. I was planning a 5 mile run with three miles of varying length intervals. I ended up doing it on the treadmill, which actually worked well. I’m not sure I did it right LOL.
Mile 1: warm up at 9:30 pace.
Mile 2: .5 mile at 7:30 pace, .25 at 9:40ish, .25 at 7:30
Mile 3: .25 at 7:30, .25 at 9:40ish, .25 at 7:30, .25 at 9:40ish
Mile 4: .13 at 7:30, .12 at 9:40ish, .13 at 7:30, .17 at 9:40ish, .10 at 7:30, .15 at 9:40ish, .1o at 7:30
For the last 1.1 miles, I slowly worked my way down from the 7:30 pace to a 10 minute pace.
Overall, 5 miles in 43:54. It felt pretty good, even when I was doing the 7:30 pace.
My heel is bothering me right now. Oddly, it’s not a problem when running (maybe I’m actually doing a decent job with the forefoot strike). I think it’s from standing too much on our hardwood floors without shoes. I’m really bummed as I hate wearing shoes inside, but I’ve found it necessary this weekend. If it keeps up, I may actually have to get a pair of shoes that are my indoor shoes…

cute story about the kids interactions with the children’s sermon. :-)good job with the intervals!!
Wow, doesn’t a 7:30 pace on the treadmill feel slightly out of control? Not that I’ve ever experienced a 7:40 pace! But anything in the 8’s seems that way to me.Way to go. Your speed increases continue to amaze me.
Great job with the intervals – way to kick butt on the 7:30 pace!I have the same problem on our hardwood floor! Sorry I have no solution b/c I hate wearing shoes inside too.
Nice intervals. Intervals always makes the treadmill a little more tolerable.
I am always barefoot when at home, and our floors are either tile or hardwood too, and I can feel a difference in my feet and legs.
It’s so weird that you bring up the heel thing because lately mine have been bothering me as well. It seems to have come out of no where?! But it’s only when I walk around the house (we have hardwood too) so I just kick around in my sneakers in the house all day HAHA!
LOL at the kids’ stories. Too funny. Hope the heel feels better soon!
Cute story, sister. Our dog would have to be named Meadowmuffin Morgan, because he likes to POOP in the house and actually did so just last night. At Midnight.
Laughing at Pukin’ Petey and the kids’ stories. And impressed by that tm workout!
SWEET workout on the mill!!I get the same problem on my tile floor – it's very unyielding & tough on the feet.
We seem to read many of the same blogs and I see your name all over the place. Just thought I’d drop by to see who you are. :)Nice work on the intervals!
That is so funny about the Pukin’ Pete stories!! You gotta love how kids will tell anyone anything! My heel has been bothering me too. I’ve been having to wear cushy socks around the house. I think I bruised it on my 14-miler on Saturday.Great running times on the treadmill!
That is cute about the boys and the pet sermon 🙂
That is hysterical about the kids….hate to tell them “don’t talk to the pastor!” Too cute! :-)A 7:30 pace??? Holy crap – you ROCK!
Great job on the intervals! I love the story about your kids, sounds like something mine would do.I have had to buy indoor shoes as well, I’ve found it really helps a lot.
