I am currently sitting at the computer with Jones’ official school calendar, Shoo’s school calendar, the soccer schedule, and about 5,000 pieces of paper with dates on them. I have email open (because there are some dates in there), google calendar open, and my personal (paper) calendar sitting next to me. For the remainder of September, there are only two days with nothing written on them and most days have more than one thing. October isn’t looking much better.
Sadly, two things seem to be getting lost in the shuffle: running and blogging. I’m still running, but I’ve given up any pretense of “training”. I’m in running survival mode. You know, the mode where you go “ooh, I have 30 minutes, I’m going to go for a quick run”. And you repeat that each day until you manage 20 miles for the week. I’m actually considering signing up for a 10k on Saturday morning as it will guarantee that I run at least 8 miles (it’s a mile or so each way from my house). We had to cancel our plans for the Dogfish Head Dash when Jones’ soccer game got scheduled for 4pm. :o( Maybe next year.
As far as blogging (and commenting), free time isn’t happening until almost 10pm every night. While I’m a night owl, I’m also exhausted by that time, so trying to come up with something even vaguely interesting to say is a challenge. I can also guarantee typos and grammatical errors at this time of night. I am reading blogs as much as I can, but commenting has fallen a bit behind.
I’m still trying to figure out how I can be busier with both boys in school for at least part of the week than I was when they were both home every day…
I used to call it 'driving in circles' when my kids were little like that. It's all good. Enjoy your time with them and their activities. Now they are teens and just as busy, but drive themselves. Easier, but a sign they are growing up and getting ready to leave the nest…
I can't believe all these activities have encroached on our WEEKEND! BAH!!!Saturdays are now for soccer & karate. I think I'm going to impose a one-sport per season limit just to maintain sanity.Either that or figure out how to do mobile blogging so I can blog while sitting there twiddling my thumbs ๐
I honestly don't know how all you running/blogging moms do it! I can't even keep up with myself, my husband, and my cat ๐ Good luck getting through it all and finding the time for a relaxing run.
Don't worry about blogging, we all understand. Hope you take a few moments for yourself the next month or two!
I've always been impressed at how you can fit in the miles with your busy schedule – I'm sure you'll adapt pretty quickly ๐
My god, you people with your kids! Doesn't anyone just send them into the Salt Mines anymore to generate more income for their parents' (i.e., my) decadent luxury? What GOOD are they otherwise?YOU'VE GONE SOFT, MIDDLE AMERICA!1!I was weeping as I typed that, sister. No, not over some sentimental notion that "kids are people too" (Pfffttt! As if!), but because YOU implied, on my blog, that you think my comments are … are obnoxious! (You implied it by saying, roughly, "Your comments are obnoxious.")WORDS HURT, sister! (Sometimes they even kill! Like when the guy in charge of the Firing Squad sez "Fire!")But know what hurts more?A PUNCH IN TEH FACE, a la Teh Marcy!1!There's one coming your way, sister. You'll just never know when …
Oh man, you are in scheduling overdrive! It's fun to be busy sometimes, but that just sounds overwhelming. Good luck getting through these next couple months.Don't worry, we'll still be here!
I am feeling the same way and am hoping it will slow down soon. Hope life slows down for you soon.
I'm with you – and I don't even have kids. Just having a hard time fitting it all in for sure. Eh, everyone understands, just get it in when you can and don't worry about the rest.
I know I am right there on the verge with you. Neither of my kids are in any activities yet, but I know it's coming. As soon as we get settled, it will happen. As far as running survival–count me in that club. I'm going to try to squeeze in three easy miles this morning after dropping kids off at school, before the contractor comes to the house to do some work on our floors.good luck on your race this weekend.
Clearly you need an MCM Mama clone.
it's a crazy time of year everytime school starts again, even weekends! Good luck, and we'll still all be here!
I love and hate the beginning of Fall. I love the routine, I hate the potential busyness as everything that took a break for the summer kicks back into gear. Hang in there!
