Pacers Mini Relay + Ambassador party

June 4, 2012 by MCM Mama 5 Comments

This was a busy weekend for us. Shoo was supposed to have a soccer game (thankfully canceled due to wet fields.) My dishwasher was being delivered (it’s in my living room now. Baby steps, people.) The boys were testing for belts at martial arts and I had a relay to run. And that was just Saturday!

Jones and Shoo rocked their tests and I got an amazing picture of Jones earning his white belt…

Perfect timing!

After their test, Beer Geek dropped me at the Pacers store in Old Town Alexandria. My leg was to run from there to their Pentagon Row store. Sadly, I didn’t take a picture of myself, but I did get my “Find your strong” tattoo from Saucony.

Put this on my ankle Saturday night. It's still there...

My leg turned out to be pretty good. It was a slow start due to people and traffic lights (and chatting with a friend), but once I got on the Mount Vernon Trail, I was able to keep my pace in the 9s. Thankfully, the one volunteer on the course was at the turn off for Crystal City or I would have added a few miles to my route. Crystal City kind of sucked as I hit every.single.light on red. I ended up covering about 5.6 miles in about an hour. I handed off the slap bracelet just as I saw Beer Geek pulling into the parking lot.  We had a quick dinner and then I stopped home just long enough to change into dry running clothes and head to the party.  I have to admit this totally wet my appetite for a “real” relay.

My relay team

We got pint glasses from Saucony + tech tees from Ragnar + I scored a tie dye shirt from Saucony (not to mention good beer to drink). All in all it was a blast!

Sunday, Pacers had their Ambassador kick off party + I had a cub scout camp meeting. (I’m still scared of Goshen, especially after the discussion on ticks, snakes, black widows, and bears. I’m making myself feel better by buying an Athleta wardrobe to wear there.)

On my way to the meetings, I stopped at TJ’s for a Clif Bar and ended up buying a Chocolate Stout as well. I had to laugh when the cashier asked me “Are you going to need a bag for that or are you just planning to drink it?” I define classy LOL.

After my meetings, I stopped at a friend’s house to pick up the kids and may have stayed up a little too late. This morning came wicked early for all of us.

How was your weekend? I need another one to recover LOL.

I’d love to do a relay someday! We are also recovering from a busy weekend… L and I are both still in our pj’s, watching Sesame Street. 🙂

That was one busy Saturday! My weekend was relatively quiet for a change thanks to kids’ sports getting rained out Saturday (I secretly did the happy dance!)

I ran 10 miles and had a good time. But I also spend the weekend nervous because of my dentist appointment on Monday! Thank heavens that’s over now.

Where was TJ’s store? Is it in a particularly ‘classy’ area where most of the clientèle just drink on the doorstep? Certainly giggled about that one.
