Time always seems to fly so fast. It seems just yesterday we chose the Heartland Series as our couple vacation this year. Yeah, I know we are weird to go traipsing around the country, running races, as our vacation without kids. Whatever. It works for us.
Since we are driving this time, packing is a good bit easier. I can take all.the.things. Or most of them anyways. I did still lay out all of my running outfits and will shortly pull out the gallon bags.
Because gallon bags are the best way to pack for a trip that involves running (I use it for Ragnar too.) It keeps the outfit together before the run and then corrals the scent post run.
I’m a tiny bit nervous about this series. I’m not worried that I can’t run all the miles – I’m kind of sort of trained and it doesn’t matter how long it takes me to do each race. What I’m worried about is that I’m not running all the races. Are you shocked???
I’m only planning to run Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa. I need those states. What that means though is that I’m running Ohio, taking a day off, running Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and then driving to Annapolis (13 hours) to run ZOOMA. Did I mention I’m some kind of crazy?
I’m mostly worried about the drive. I figure if I run slowly in Ohio, I’ll be ok taking a day off.
So, here’s my plan:
Ohio – 11+ minute miles
Indiana – 10:15-10:30 miles
Illinois – Anything faster than Indiana
Iowa – S.L.O.W. I do not want to leave it all on the course and then get in the car to ride all day. Nope.
ZOOMA – It’s all about the fun, baby! I may very well break my “personal slowest” record LOL
Great plan, right? Perhaps my plan should just be to survive LOL.
I’m sure I’ll blog a few times, but follow me on instagram for the real fun!
