Thank goodness October is over. Only 2 more soccer games today and Shoo’s birthday party tomorrow and life becomes more normal. Since I’ve been pretty much mainlining coffee this week (my best night I got 6 hours of sleep), I’m going to join Jill and Lynda at the Ultimate Coffee Date and make you listen to the crazy that is my life. I promise if you leave a comment about the crazy in your life to make me feel better, I’ll commiserate with you.
So, before I focus on my life, what’s up with you? Got some races coming up? Work going well? Kids doing anything exciting? Here’s what’s going on in my life…
[Tweet “Oy, I need coffee today! Who wants to join me and @jillconyers @Fitnessmom1 #FitFluential #sweatpink “]
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that we had a great time walking around the neighborhood for an hour with Shoo’s friends Trick or Treating, but at the end of an hour all of the kids were done. I was glad too as I was ready to go home and chill. Remember that street I mentioned? Here’s an example of the crazy awesome decorating. Not only did they carve more than 30 pumpkins, the carving was incedible!
And Shoo, the Zombie (ok, he was dressed as Messi the soccer player…)
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I’ve been working fairly frequent shifts at the public library. This has been quite an experience for me. In my previous professional library jobs, I worked primarily with lawyers and accountants and managed a multi-million dollar database budget. Now, I’m getting asked the weather and discovering that people come in a lot of different smells (most of them unpleasant.) I actually do enjoy it though – very low stress and sometimes the questions are really interesting.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you I’ve also started writing for RunHaven. It’s a fun little gig and makes me stay on top of the topics I have swirling in my head. My first article was a reprint of a blog post, but my second was one I wrote just for them. Hopefully I’ll have an article there every week or so.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you last night I totally broke my no dairy rule and ate too many pieces of candy. I learned two things in the process: Butterfinger peanut butter cups are AMAZING and snickers don’t taste good with a pumpkin porter. Food and beer pairing FAIL.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I’m starting to make plans for 2015 and that they may be epic. Ironically though, I’m barely running right now. My foot is being tweaky and I can’t figure out if I need to stop running entirely to let it heal or if running is not the problem. Pretty soon I’m going to be back to a couch to 5K plan if this keeps up. Hard to believe I ran 200 miles in March and now can’t seem to run more than 4 miles at a time.
And now I’m off to an early soccer game in the cold and rain. Ugh. Fingers crossed that the second game (not on turf) gets canceled. I don’t mind running in the rain, but spectating in the rain kind of sucks. Thankfully, we’ve rented an indoor soccer field for Shoo’s birthday party, so we won’t be out in the cold for that. And there’s talk of a trip to Mad Fox for a sweet potato porter, so this weekend should be pretty awesome.
Also, who wants to join me for a November Mileage Challenge? I’m aiming for 100, but you can set your own goal. I know I have some fun stuff I can give as prizes. You in?
What’s up with you? I hope you have a great weekend!
i guess i need to try the butterfinger pb cups! i’ve heard lots of good things about them. i stayed home and spent some time with a pint of ice cream yesterday evening. lol. have a great weekend!
I miss ice cream…
Awww those pumpkins are amazing! Love that your weather was better than ours, here it was cold and rainy here. I felt bad for the kids! Do you prefer the butterfingers ones to the reeese? I think I like reeses better!
I like the crunch in the butterfinger ones. So yummy!
I want to try the Butterfinger PB things! And that beer. Mmmmm…
I’ll take an extra coffee this morning *yawn*
Both were yummy!
Congrats on writing for Run Haven – I’ll be sure to go by and check it out. I’d definitely be up for some kind of mileage challenge…if I don’t find a new focus soon things could get ugly 😉
Join us!
I’m right there on the lack of running and it is scary how fast I feel like I’m losing all of my conditioning and hard work.
Have a fun party!!
Join my challenge. It’s already motivating me to move!
I ate too much candy too! Congrats on the running gig that sounds fun. I’m in on the miles challenge-do we need to sign up somewhere? Thanks for jumping into our spontaneous coffee link up today. We will have it figured out by next month with a new graphic with Coco and Lynda. It’s one of my favorite posts to write.
I’ll set up a spreadsheet later today.
Those pumpkins remind me of the Pumpkin House that I visited! 😀 I don’t think I’ve ever tried butterfinger peanut butter cups, but they sound good! How do they compare to Reeses?
+ 200 miles in a single month is awesome! I’m not all that gifted in the realms of endurance, but have been trying to talk myself into doing a 5k at some point, just for fun (hah…). Possibly more for the Kentucky-exploration than for fun. 😛
I love them – like Reeses cups but with some of the butterfinger crunchy filling.
Oh no! So sorry to hear about your foot! You should get it checked out!! Congrats on writing for Run Haven!!
I have. They couldn’t find anything wrong, so I rested and that didn’t really make a difference, so I’m running anyways.
Another reason I’m glad we don’t really celebrate Halloween over here. There’s really no way I’d be able to have all those sweet, chocolatey things in my house without wanting to eat them.
