Beer Geek had a holiday event this evening, so I only had about 45 minutes to run between when he came home and when he was planning to leave. I decided to run a three mile loop and then run in the neighborhood until the 45 minutes was up. As I’m desperate to get this 1000 mile thing done, I decided to run the first three miles as fast as I could. I tried to run at just short of the puke threshold for as long as I could and actually managed 4 miles at about an 8:37 pace, with a fifth mile at 9:04. 5 miles in 43:30, which leaves me with 19.9 miles to go. (And no, I didn’t actually puke, but came mighty close after a couple of sprints to cross streets before lights changed.)
Lest you worry that I won’t be running when I get to WI, I do have the option of a treadmill. One of the bonuses of having a dad who runs is that he has a really nice treadmill in the basement. It’ll be boring as all heck as they don’t have cable, but it is an option. That said, I packed my tights, Thorlos socks, a long sleeve technical tee, and a fleece. I can layer with stuff from my dad’s closet if I need more.
Tomorrow will be crazy as I finish getting us ready to leave and hopefully my next post will be a “happy to be safely here” post and not a “flight canceled, not sure when I’m getting there” post.
safe travels!! Have fun! Happy holidays!
Fingers crossed for a “safely arrived” post.Happy holidays!
Sounds like a great run! Hope you have a safe, happy trip.
Hope your travels go smoothly!Ah, yes, the puke threshold run. Those are always what my lactate thresholds turn into. Great pace!
