I’m writing this from the hotel room at the Sea Crest in Falmouth. Which is to say, my views are currently amazing!
This weekend is ZOOMA Cape Cod and this is likely my last quiet moment before the wild ride begins. No matter how much planning you do, there are always surprises. The trick is to handle those surprises in a way that does not negatively impact a race.
But it’s nearing Friday and it’s runfession week, so here are a few things that are going on in my life.
I runfess that when I woke up the morning after the Clarendon Day Double that I was pretty sure I was going to defer Marine Corps Marathon. Everything hurt! But the deferral window had closed (or I was too stupid to figure out how to do it), so that was no longer an option. As it turns out, that was a good thing – I was actually mostly experiencing DOMS. It’s been so long since that’s happened from running that I thought I might have hurt myself.
I will also runfess that I wish that I could run the ZOOMA race on Saturday. The course is gorgeous and the weather here is perfect. I am definitely going to have to squeak out some time in the morning to get a little run in. If I run, it will be my third run in 7 days. That used to be a down week, but right now it’s a peak.
This week the Marine Corps Marathon 2018 gear came out. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in it. The women’s jacket had oddly long arms with a loose wristband, so even the small didn’t work for me. The women’s 1/2 zip was way too similar to last year’s design. So, I have to runfess, I bought the men’s half zip in the smallest size. Why? Because if you spend enough on Brooks at the local running store, they pick up your bib for you.
I runfess that I will probably still go to the expo, just to check it out. I know. I make no sense.
With that runfession, I need to head to bed, because I runfess that I’m exhausted. I have anxiety nightmares and last night I had a doozy where I was supposed to do something on the course and I.could.not.remember.what.it.was. I woke up in a complete panic with my heart racing. I was shocked to discover I was in my own bed…
Have a lovely weekend! If you are in Falmouth for the ZOOMA Cap Cod, look for me. As per usual, I’ll be wearing Skirt Sports the whole time.
I’m joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup and Marciafor Runfessions.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Have a blast this weekend. I do remember how much fun it was to run up there w you. Hope you get one in!
Have a great weekend! I’m looking forward to hearing all about it.
Ugh on the stress nightmares. I hope everything important goes right tomorrow — the rest will just make for a better story. 😉
Can’t wait to hear/see how it all goes. Hooray for gorgeous weather!
Have a fun weekend! You’re lucky to be right there and can preview the MCM gear in person and not have to guess on sizing.
I’ll be in Falmouth NEXT month. Not my first time though. I hope everything goes smoothly!
