I’ve been taking part of Laura’s 5 (or 10 miles) by the 5th of the month for the last few months. December brings this round to an end. For a variety of reasons, I almost missed this one, but then Shoo went to school and the stars aligned.
I actually ran with the ladies of MRTT! I know. The lone runner joins a group. I have to admit, it was a lot more fun running the five while chatting than it would have been running the same miles around my neighborhood. Bonus: yesterday’s Elf for Health challenge to was to work out with a buddy. Win/Win!
And now about that rain…
I’m running half marathon number 12 this weekend! There is a bit of a weather event going on across the US right now (understatement) and it’s heading this way. Last night the weather people were calling for rain all morning on Saturday. Right now it looks like this…
Fingers crossed it leans towards the cloudy option.
As it is, I’ve packed pretty much every option I can: light jacket, rain jacket, short sleeves, arm warmers, half zip, capris, skirt, throwaway gloves, heat blanket, trash bag…
My goals:
- Stay warm enough – I’ve done a lot of wet and windy races lately (obviously I pissed off some diety), and being cold is a huge issue for me.
- Finish upright and smiling
- Finish faster than the 3! races that I finished in 2:14
- {Whispers} Finish with a 9:59 average or faster
Guess I’ll find out tomorrow of any of the faster runs I’ve done lately have helped…
Don’t forget my giveaway ends tonight at midnight!!
No matter how many races a runner does, they always forget you can choose the race, not the weather.
Think of it as an opportunity to use some that running gear you spent big bucks on, but rarely have to put on.
Oooohhhh, trash bag. Excellent choice. Forgot all about that! I once wore a trash bag for a whole half marathon in January in Oregon. Good times, good times!
Good luck this weekend! Rain is the worst… maybe it will help you run faster to be done more quickly?!
I looked at the weather forecast there and thought for a moment that it didn’t look too bad but then I remembered that it’s winter. I’m hoping you get the cloudy option too.
I hope you have netter weather than forecasted for my race tomorrow! I’m looking forward to the recap! Enjoy the run!
