Otherwise known as “bullet pointy goodness” as one of my friends says…
- I am so rocking this taper. Apparently I am quite good at cutting mileage, without going stir crazy. Who knew?
- I am also totally rocking the carbo loading. Every meal has involved bread of some sort and chocolate has been a big player as well. Surprisingly, the scale is only moving very slowly upward.
- This past Saturday was my 20 year high school reunion (yeah, I’m that old). I didn’t go. Originally we had plans and then when those fell through, I just didn’t feel like it. Looking at the pictures, I so should have gone. I’m looking pretty darn good these days, thanks to all the running.
- Of course, I’m now considering giving up my salon coloring habit. I HATE having my hair colored. It’s colored back to its normal color, just to hide the gray. I got talked into it a couple of years ago by my mom and my stylist and I’m just so tired of the maintenance. We’ll see. I’m only an inch or two into the skunk look at this point LOL.
- I’m participating in Jenn’s 21 day challenge. I’m giving up soda and trying to drink a lot more water. So far, so good. The funny thing is I just recently started up a Diet Pe.psi habit and I don’t even like Pe.psi. It was all about the caffeine.
- Beer Geek had a meeting after work today and got home at 6. I was ready to sell the children by that point. I am so spoiled by his normal work schedule…
- Shoo has a nasty cold and croup. He’s on steroids for the croup. He was quite literally bouncing off the walls today. Literally.
And then there’s the marathon… I’m still trying to figure out the clothing. The weather forecast keeps changing, so I’m not sure, but I’m thinking shorts and a short sleeve shirt (the shirt that races of course). My dad is sending a throw away jacket with my mom, so I’ll wear that before the race.
And speed… Oh, what to do? I think that I’ll leave that for another post, but as a teaser, I’m debating the whole War of Posts v. negative splits thing in my head. More tomorrow…
Today’s run: 3 miles in 26:45… (yes, the other 3 miler was 26:30)
Wow, that’s a fast 3 miler!Definitely wear one disposable layer and something lighter underneath; no matter the temp, you will get warm as you run.
It sounds like your taper is going swell! Keep those carbs coming :-)I just had to comment on how jealous I am that 6 p.m. is late. Holy cow… if my hubby makes it home at 6, I throw a party. 6:30 or 7 is the norm and he often works later than that. My poor children don’t see the best of Mommy after 5. Good luck with the rest of this week and have a FABULOUS time on Sunday.
I’m with you! I liked tapering! I never felt that whole “OMG I should be doing more” thing. I was soooo HAPPY to be done with the 20 milers and all that jazz.
Great job on the tapering and carbo loading. Woohoo! Your speed on your short runs is awesome. Class reunions….never been to one of mine. We didn’t have a 15 or a 20 (I’m that old, too). I’ve been to 3 of my husband’s, though (he had his 25th 2 years ago). And it’s funny. Every year there are fewer people, but every year the people look better. I think only the classmates who are holding up well come to the reunions.Funny you mention hair color. I have always done mine at home and I want to go darker so I scheduled an appt with my girl about 6 weeks ago for TODAY, and she freaking cancelled on me. So now I’m going to just do it myself b/c I’ve got way too much root growth and can’t wait until she has an opening. After reading your post, I’m thinking maybe it was a good thing she cancelled. I’ve been doing my own color for, gosh, at least 15 years (!). I guess I can keep it up. I can’t wait to read about the speed decision process.
Great job on the taper….sounds like it is going really well. I really can’t believe how fast your race is coming up.I love getting my hair colored….just not the expense. It gives me time to catch up on my smut reading (US Weekly, People etc…)
Carbo loading is my favorite part of the taper. Good luck on your race! You’re going to rock!
yay for rocking the taper and carb loading! I’m doing some sympathy carb loading with ya’ LOLmy solution to covering some grey without going nuts when it grows out is to have it “carmelized”. They alternate streaks of “natural color”, “highlighted color”, and “no color”. This means there is grey showing, but all those different colors in there makes the growing out period much easier to deal with. I can go ~4 months between color before it starts bugging me.
Just wondering: Did you get the shirt yet?
