Yesterday we took the boys to an indoor waterpark. You know, one of those ones with multi-story slides, lazy rivers, and a huge hot tub. (Thank goodness for the hot tub – one of the reasons I don’t like swimming is I get cold easily.)
Two of the slides had the option of riding a raft or a tube down the slide with another person. I went down the slide with each kid multiple times. Which meant I walked up a ton of stairs multiple times, often while carrying a double person inner tube. Then, after an absolutely wicked fun ride down the tube, I had to get my butt out and then drag out the tube. And then walk back up the stairs to do it again.
This is why I stay fit. I’m not going to be the mom sitting in a chair on the side while my kids have fun. As long as they’ll let me ride with them, I’m going to be the mom providing the heavy weight in the back to make the tube/raft go crazier. I’m going to be the mom who says yes whenever the kids want me to join them in something active.
(I may also be the mom who is a little sore today because I’ve been slacking on the upper body/core workouts this summer, but we won’t talk too much about that. No actual pictures included because I was too busy playing with my boys.)
Enter my NatureBox giveaway!!! It ends soon!!
What a great reason to workout:) I just had this experience yesterday when my son asked to go to soccer practice early so we could play pass. Of course! Not too strenuous until you have to run after inaccurate kicks:)
There were so many parents just sitting and watching. I just don’t want to go there if I can avoid it. (And I hear you on chasing after inaccurate kicks.)
Totally agree! I like to be active with my boys and am so glad that I am active enough to do that!
The water park sounds like fun!
It was a blast! I don’t usually enjoy that kind of thing, but once I started riding the slides, I had a good time.
Me too! My parents were always very active alongside us as I was growing up, and I have the same expectation of myself. Besides, why would I wanna miss out on all the fun? 🙂
That is freaking awesome. Just the type of Mom I would want to be! Way to go, Mom!
Sounds like a blast. It would not be fun to be the mother sitting on the side. And as you get older you don’t want to be the person not joining in because of aches, pains, bodyweight……whatever.
So much fun! You’re the Mum that actually hasn’t forgotten what it’s like to be a kid and to enjoy herself.
