I am not running today. I am not snow shoveling today. In fact, if I have my way, I’ll be doing a whole lot of nothing. Of course, I’m at home with two very active boys (Beer Geek got to go to work today), so I imagine I’ll have to do something.
Rescheduling
My race calendar has gone a bit awry. The GW Birthday Classic was cancelled due to the snow. The Pacers Love the Run You’re With 5K has been rescheduled to February 28th (Note to my non-local peeps: they are offering a virtual option and a really cool t-shirt. If you’re interested in running virtually, let me know and I can find get your stuff to you.) I’ll be volunteering at the rescheduled race, so stop by and say hi if you are running it. The Capital Hospice 12K has been rescheduled for February 20. I’ll be running that, so hopefully I’ll see some of you there. I’m really hoping we are done with the snow now and can get back to the business of running!
Volunteering
I’m trying to get more involved with my IRL running community this year. To that end, you’ll find me volunteering at some of the local races this year. As mentioned above, I’m volunteering at the Love the Run 5k. I’ll be at a couple more (at least) of the local races this year, just not sure which ones yet. I’m trying to balance racing and volunteering with marathon training and my family, so I may not know until a few days beforehand. I’m hoping Jones will go with me a few times when the weather is nice. I know they can always use more help, so let me know if you want to volunteer with me.
As I’m sure many of you have seen, the National Marathon is still looking for volunteers. I’m trying to figure out how I can volunteer. They actually have their list of needs up, so check it out. If you are coming into the area to volunteer (or run), shoot me an email and maybe we can meet up.
Giveaways
I’m still working on my giveaway. I should make it over to my LRS on Saturday to scope out some stuff. I’m trying to figure out if I should include anything beer related (I am, afterall, the running beer mama). What do you think? Also, I’m nearly to 100 followers. If I can get to 100 before the giveaway, I’ll throw in something extra. So, if you’re reading, but not following, c’mon and join the cool kids. ;o)
Meanwhile, there are a ton of cool giveaways going on out there….
Tea Marcia over at Running off at the mouth is giving away a spa treatment from Indigo Wild (I so need that at this point!)
Shut Up and Run is giving away an ENTIRE Champion outfit!
Her Name is Rio and She Runs is giving away a really cool coffee mug!
Stuart over at Quadrathon is giving away some entries to the Nashville Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and a new half marathon in Dallas.
And a few obligatory pictures of the crazy snow around here:
oh my gosh. look at the size of those icecycles!!!!
WHOA, crazy snow and icicles!Enjoy your (hopefuly) quiet day today. Thanks for all the giveaway links! Looking forward to yours.I'm already following… duh!
I'm all for beer related stuff in a giveaway! I haven't been trying much new beer lately. We are in a beer rut, because I don't drink much of it these days and DH likes what he likes (plus I like to buy cases at Costco and they don't have much to chose from– Sierra Nevada it is).I can't believe how much snow you have!! No thank you! When I lived in Kansas, my neighbors didn't like me much because I wasn't very good at getting out there and shoveling.
Wow…you got way more snow than we did! My kids would be loving it!
I'll be looking at those icicle pictures in July when I'm thinking about how horrible life is here! Hope you can relax some today!Oh, and beer is always good 🙂
Those pictures are crazy! Hope you have chill day and a great weekend!
Will you be volunteering virtually as well?
You deserve a more relaxing day. Those icicles and that snowman are monstrous. Insanity is what this winter is, I tell you, insanity.
Yep… that's a lot of snow! Hopefully the weekend brings warmer temps and melting for y'all!
That snow is ridiculous! That's great that you are volunteering at races. Our office puts on a local race here and I love helping out with that. I volunteered at Twin Cities one year, which was really fun too.
Oh my… That is A LOT of snow! Try to stay warm 🙂
i have volunteered at races and they seriously need the help. it was a bit scary thinking bout if they had no volunteers, the races would never take off.
Thanks for the mention! That snowman and the icicles looks incredible!Kudos to you that you're volunteering. It was on my "to do" list for a long time and when I finally did it, it was a great experience. And if anyone was going to do a giveaway with beer, it should definitely be with you!
I just joined the cool kids :)Love your blog … am amazed at the snow, just incomprehensible from where I'm sitting!

Yep that snow is nuts! Enjoy your rest today and good for you for volunteering! Thanks for the linky poo!
your blog is hilarious, I just finished writing a "snow" blog that reads a lot like yours. I suspect that every blog written by a mom on the east coast probably reads the same…
I've only volunteered at one race, but I really enjoyed it. Might have to do it again soon.
I have one race I volunteer at each year. I need to expand out I think!
That snow is NUTS!!!
Thanks for following my blog! I do not think we are too far apart as I too have 30 inches of snow on the ground! I was also planning to run the "love the run" but now that it is rescheduled I have a conflict and will not be able to do so! BUMMER! I am in southern Maryland! Maybe I will see you at a race sometime, I if we ever dig out of this mess!
Those are some serious icicles!!! I'm ready for the melting to begin…and we don't even have a fraction of what you have. It's just that Denver doesn't get the snow to stick around all winter, but this winter it has. I'm all up for a beer related giveaway; I'll be entering under 30 different names :). Happy weekend. Stay warm!!
That's some serious snow.
I signed up today to volunteer friday night at the expo. I might sign up for an early shift on race day too but I have to also cheer on my training partner who is running her FIRST marathon and asked me to join her for a few miles!
Hey MCM-Blog is always so readable and entertaining — good 'voice' I mentioned you in my blog today. Maybe we can meet up sometime at one of the local races… I run with Kathy over at Pacers. Sure she's pumped about the volunteering. I should do some more of that. I'll check it out and let you know where I'll be.Cheers! RunningBrooke
LOVE the icicles!! Sooo cool.I look forward to seeing your Giveaway!
