Revolve DC Indoor Cycling Review

July 2, 2013 by MCM Mama 9 Comments

Recently, Revolve DC approached me and offered me a free class.  I was really excited to try it, but the only time of day that works for me is 10:00am.  With only a few of those classes each week, it took me a few weeks to finally get in. (There are plans to increase the number of daytime classes.)

I’m so glad I did!  It was a great workout!

I took an extended Body Ride class with Grant Hill.  Here’s their description:

Cardio…Strength…Flexibility…Everything you need in one complete class. This all-encompassing workout allows you to maximize the time you have to work-out in one place. Start out strong. The ride is cardio-intense and gets the heart rate up and keeps it there. Stay moving while you strengthen and tone the upper body on the bike. Polish it all off with a cool down stretch both on and off the bike. You get it all. You get the complete body!

When I got there, the staff was awesome!  I had no idea what I was doing and they helped me with every step, including how to get the shoes out of the clips.  (I totally get how people fall off their bikes now.  I had the hardest time unclipping.)

The lights were dimmed and we were ready to ride!

I have to admit that I loved that they turned down the lights.  I could see Grant just fine and could see others enough to figure things out, but I didn’t feel like the obvious newbie.   I liked that I could focus just on me and not worry if I got a funny expression when I was pushing hard.

The class was a bit more cardio heavy than I expected, but since I’m a cardio junky, I was ok with that.  From the description, I expected a bit more full body weight workout, but I think you get that more from the Barre class (which I WILL be trying in the fall).  All in all, it was a really good workout.  The room was seriously air conditioned and I was still dripping sweat on the floor.   Grant obviously enjoys his job and he did a great job of keeping us motivated to push through the hard intervals.  I couldn’t believe how fast the hour went.

Interested in going?  Their schedule is available here.  Their prices are pretty similar to most classes in this area and I like that the more you do, the cheaper it gets.  Great incentive to get in there a few times a week.  (Doesn’t hurt that I can walk there as well!)

Plan to find me there at least once a week when the kids go back to school in the fall!

(Disclaimer: Revolve gave me a free class.  All opinions are my own.)

I have been spinning for the last few weeks to supplement my running and I really enjoy it! I love that the lights are dimmed since it keeps the room
Cool and gives me the anonymity I crave! I am loving the challenge!!

Sounds pretty awesome. I love spin classes and wish my gym offered more of them (or at least more at better times).

I would love to try out a place like this! We don’t have anything like it in Savannah.

Glad you liked it! I have done spinning at a few different places and definitely liked some more than others– you gotta find a class and instructor that you like because it can seriously make a huge difference! Spinning is a great workout and I think you will love it the more you do it. And I really like the most places offer it cheaper the more you do–it really is incentive to do it more which will only make you fitter and stronger! Great job trying something new!

Awesome! Love how they dimmed the lights too. I once did a class where they dimmed the lights…it was a cool effect 🙂

Awesome. You know I’m addicted to spin. It’s especially great for those winter days you don’t want to get outside. I’m telling you- you’re going to try a tri soon!!!

I hadn’t thought about that advantage of a dark room, but it’s so true! Hhmmm. I wonder if Grant was my first too! 😉
