You’d think I’d learn.
On weekdays, I have no trouble finding a time to run. I wake up, put on my running clothes, and then run as soon as I can after kid drop off. Every once in a while I push it later in the day, but mostly I run by 10am at the latest.
On the weekends, I miss my run more often than not. I do try to plan one day as a rest day, knowing that I’m likely to be a slacker, but I often end up with two rest days because I just don’t make running a priority.
This past weekend? Four rest days. No, I did not, in fact, run yesterday. I certainly needed too after all the eating and sitting I did this past weekend. (Alternate title for this post: Eat all the things). I should have gotten up and run right away.
Instead, I got up and threw on some clothes. (Mistake #1: I put on a regular bra, not a running bra, and we all know that if I put on a running bra I’m much more likely to run.)
Then we had birthday cake for breakfast. (Mistake #2: Starting my day with sugar is pretty much a trigger for eating sugar all day long.)
Then I did 8 loads of laundry. (OK, no mistake there. I needed to and it made me go up and down the stairs about 50 million times.)
Seriously, I need to make a plan and start following it. Five halves in five days is pretty much gonna suck if I continue this low mileage business.
Hmmm….we need to figure out what would motivate you to get out the door! I do agree that first thing in the morning really is key. One of these days I’ll show up on your door at 5 a.m. and get you going! ; )
Im with Miss Z!!
do you need us to come over?
I practically live in sports bras and that really seems to help. at least you did a bunch of stairs. Today.. no excuses! Go run 🙂
I have the same problem. If I don’t do it right away, things just get in the way. It sucks! I even say “Run when you can” because life is so busy but then Chipotle sounds sooo delicious and I can’t run after that….
Right there with you lately – need to get some miles in – but then my husband who’s just getting into running wants to go, so we just do a couple of miles. I need to find time for my run and our run!
I hear you!
I had to run Saturday at 3pm. Not.Good.At.All. Only way it happened was meeting a friend to do the run with me.
First thing is the best timing, but sometimes it doesn’t work out right away in the day. Good luck getting out there; you’ll feel good once you do!
Hang in there, girl!! You will find what works for u!! Don’t be discouraged! :0) spa love!
Don’t get discouraged! You got this 🙂 One day at a time!
I try to set my clothes out and when I roll out of bed I just put them on right away that way there is no turning back!
That is exactly why I always run early in the morning. Before the day really starts my run is done.
Please do not laugh but I rarely wear regular PJs. I sleep in clean workout clothes so I have no excuses in the morning (unless I oversleep which I did today). When I come home from work, I put on workout clothes. I might qualify for an episode of What Not To Wear but it works. Most of the time. Give it a try. 😀
Weekend time gets so crazy that if I don’t go first thing I know I’ll never fit it in. Do you have a running buddy you could run with on the weekends so you know someone will be waiting for you? I’ve been doing that for a friend – I’m waiting in her driveway every Saturday morning – then we both know we can’t slack off 🙂
I’m with Johann. I do it before the day starts and then there’s really nothing that gets in the way. But I do have to get up early for it to happen.
