It seems like only yesterday I was joking about doing 5 half marathons in 5 days, but it’s been 8 months in the making. When Kim and Jess started talking about it on Facebook, I never thought I’d actually do it (and sadly I’m the only one of the three of us doing it). But I made the “mistake” of sharing the idea with Beer Geek, and next thing I knew, it was the plan.
Since then, I’ve run a lot of miles. Not as many as planned thanks to a bit of a detour. But a lot. And tomorrow we leave for the adventure!
But the big question is “What are my goals?”
All along, I’ve said that my goal was to finish all five, preferably upright and smiling.
At one point when training was going well, my goal was to run all 5 in under 2:30. Now, all I can hope for is that they are all under 3:00.
But, you know what? I am going to finish and I am going to be smiling, I just can’t guarantee I’ll be standing. Thankfully, there are about 100 other crazies, so hopefully someone will drag me to the finish line. So, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico, I’m comin’ for ya!
And if you’re wondering what compression socks/sleeves I got to go with this outfit…
Because if you can’t be fast, you might as well be awesome. ;o)
Love the energy and attitude within your post!~ Enjoy and have fun!!!
You’ve got this!! You will finish all of them because you are strong!!!
Good luck! I had hoped to be able to hop over and see you in Ulysses, but I have school activities rescheduled from a snowstorm in February that I can’t get out of. Hope it all goes well for you!
I cant wait to read youre recap!!! You will finish standing up!! Youre strong!! youre and inspiration!!!
Here we go! Woo hoo!
Yay!! I am really excited for you. 🙂 Just take it one race, one mile even, at a time and ENJOY this! It is a big, fun adventure and you will have so many great stories and memories to tell. Have fun! I know you can do it. 🙂
YOU GOT THIS!!! you’re #fitfluential, baby!! xoxo
Which one are you doing in Kansas?
It’s finally here! I love your red white and blue sleeves. Those are so very perfect. You may have to save them for your last race, because of their awesomeness.
Once again, I feel like a big boob for not running with you. However I am terrified and excited for the reality of it and to see how you pull it off with grace, dignity and pure determination.
I read Beer Geek’s blog back in the beginning of all this, haven’t read it since. I am still a bit confused as to what he’s actually doing. Maybe you could explain it in layman’s terms for me (or post a link to his write up of your trip).
Good luck! You’ll make it awesome!
You are going to do great! I can’t wait to read about it!
I remember when you first mentioned doing this – can’t believe the time’s finally come! Good luck and have fun!
