I must runfess that I haven’t run in over a week. Yeah, I’m not even going to preface that runfession with anything because it pretty much says it all. I’ve been using my exercise bike and lifting weights and *some* walking – all of which means I’m fit and strong. It also means I’m about to lose my mind. I’m thankful that I don’t have anything too stressful going on (just normal life crap like a cat with a UTI and too many end of year activities), because I’m pretty sure I’d just have to run through the pain otherwise.
I must runfess that to take my mind off of not running, I’m starting to pack for my trip to Colorado and it’s 90% Skirt Sports. Yeah, my trip involves the Skirt Sports Retreat, but it also involves hiking and brewpubs. Good thing that Skirt Sports serves multiple purposes. Related: thank goodness for Southwest Airlines and free checked baggage. Just sayin. (Note that my foam roller is going with me…)
I must runfess that somehow I have to go from not running to running an Ultra Ragnar in about 4 weeks. That’s actually why I’m not running at all. I need my ankle and heel to heal as fast as possible, so I can’t risk stressing it while it’s not 100%. (Thankfully, I am seeing improvement and I’m doing ALL the exercised recommended to me by pretty much everyone LOL.)
I must runfess that I’m starting to figure out my fall since my lack of spring planning went oh so well. What better to do when you can’t run than plan your fall races? I’m already planning to be at ZOOMA Great Lakes, Cape Cod, and Florida. I’ll be working, but I get to run at least one of the options as part of my job. (Use code ERIKA2018 for 10% off to join me at any location). Then I have Marine Corps Marathon. Then I’m running an ultra. Yep, I’m finally making the leap. Options are still under discussion. If you know of a 12 hour timed race or a non technical 50K in the fall, spam me with it.
Finally, I must runfess that since I can’t run right now, I ordered a new pair of shoes. I know. Makes total sense, right? Well, Altra recently came out with a lightweight cushioned shoe and since I seem to be needing a bit more cushion (I can’t walk around my house barefoot without pain right now), I decided to give them a try. They just might be the answer for the Ultra Ragnar…
Running aside, life is going pretty well. I’m busy with a million different work and end of school year related stuff, but it’s all good. And if not running is my biggest problem at the moment, I should be thankful.
(But it is seriously taking every.single.ounce of my willpower to not run through the pain.)
I’m joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup and Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions.
Not running sucks, right? Altho I’m taking a step back from running anything far. I’m actually ok with it.
I hope your ankle heals up fast!
I’m sorry to hear about your ankle pain, I didn’t realize that you were coming back from injury. You always stay super busy with a lot going on! The Zooma races sound fun for the fall and an ultra seems to be calling your name!
It came on pretty suddenly and seems to be hanging on as much as possible, sigh.
Sorry your ankle is still bothering you. Swimming? So jealous that you are going to the skirt sports retreat again. I had so much fun there 2 years ago. All of our grad stuff starts this week so super crazed at the moment
I’m looking forward to this year after missing last year. I might be able to do next year, but the year after is HS graduation AND MS graduation, so probably not then LOL.
Ooooh a cushioned Altra sounds like the bomb…so does a SS Colorado retreat. Have so much fun. If only we could get endorphins in a bottle…or in a bag of chocolate chips….hope you’re back to running pain free very soon!
Yeah, nothing quite works as well as running. I can’t wait to try the new Altras – hoping they help me get back to running.
Ugh…hope the heel (and everything else) feels better! Yes, this time of year is nutzo, right?
It feels ok when I do a lot of foam rolling. Just hoping to get completely healed soon.
I have spent many miles hiking in Skirt Sports . . .
Injuries, pain — yuck. Just go away, right?
Yep, SS is my favorite for hiking.
