Here we are at the end of February and I’m whining about being cold, but it’s currently 33* and the high is supposed to be in the high 40s. While that’s right around the “average” high and low for February in this area, it feels like we’ve had a lot more of the average and a lot less of the cold days than usual. And we’ve had zero snow. ZERO! It really feels like winter never arrived this year. So, my first runfession as I enter the runfessional at Marcia’s Healthy Slice is that I’d really like at least one snow before the warm weather hits us!
I must also runfess that there’s been precious little running around here. The worst part is I can’t find my “give a damn.” I know I have some half marathons coming up (eh, they aren’t until May), but I only ran farther than 3 miles twice in February (and one of those was today)! Lest you think I’m totally slacking, I’ve been lifting weights consistently, doing some hard workouts on my exercise bike, and walked a LOT of miles while we were in Bermuda. But I can’t even blame the weather for my lack of running.

I think the rest of my runfessions may be more along the lines of “lifefessions”. I mean, how can you runfess when you aren’t running. Anyways, if I were ‘fessing, I’d mention that I’ve given up dairy, eggs, and wheat. While I’m definitely breathing better, I feel like something is still tripping me up. I really need to commit to a full on autoimmune diet for a couple of weeks, but I confess that I am weak. I mean, even if I discover beer is the issue (I haven’t had once since Bermuda), will I cut craft beer out of my life?

I must also confess that I’m a little sad about letting my blog slow down so much. I was doing my taxes and, after years of a pretty decent blog income, I barely made anything in 2019. It’s a combination of not applying for gigs and also not writing or pushing my blog much. But my life is so much busier now that I’m with ZOOMA and I’m finding I love race directing way more than I love writing, so I guess it’s really not a bad thing.
Finally, I must runfess that I recently stocked our pantry back up. With no snow this year, I’d never really bought a lot of staples to keep around. While I didn’t go crazy, I did refill all the shelves in the pantry and buy a few extra frozen veggies. I’m not overly worried about the coronavirus itself, but living in an urban area, I worry a bit about people’s reaction to it. The funniest part of the stock up though was researching what veggies last longest – because I must keep the roaches fed. I runfess that I bought sweet potatoes specifically for them.

Hopefully March will bring more sunshine and my running will come back to me. At this point, I’m not even signing up for races. I don’t even recognize myself anymore LOL.
And you are a great RD.
I totally agree re: people’s reaction to Coronavirus. I went to CVS last night to get toothpaste, mouthwash, tissues and toilet paper — the former as I was nearly out, the latter as I’d started my last box/package. Bottled water & tp shelves bare. Come ON people. It’s like pent up snow day hoarding since like you, we had none.
So good to meet you in Bermuda.
I went no dairy for the bulk of the start of the year – I ended that before BErmuda where I didn’t want to be so restrictive, but it was easy to avoid. Hope you find answers
