I ran 40 miles last week with almost 17 of them happening during the weekend. I have 44 as my goal this week. Do you have any idea how much time that takes? According to my log on Running Ahead, I ran for 7 hours and 27 minutes last week! And that time does not take into account the ridiculous amount of time it takes to get dressed for this weather, the time I spend trying to strip off damp tights and compression socks, or the time I spend trying to get snarls out of my hair.
Pretty sure when it is all added up, I spent more time running and in running related activities last week than I did doing anything other than sleeping. In fact, I spent more time running than I did working. And it’s just going to get worse.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not looking forward to the last two weeks of training. Seriously, I’m going to have to figure out how to do laundry WHILE I run LOL. I just keep reminding myself I’ve done this before and that I built mileage gradually and my body will be ready. My mind? Eh, that’s already gone.
But I’ll be the first to admit I’m looking forward to the two fallback weeks I have left…
And this is what the weather forecast looks like…
Thank you, Mother Nature. It’s about damn time!
Got any time savers (other than running faster LOL)? I’d love to hear ’em.
Holy moly. I’ve never, ever run a 50 mile week. Your spreadsheet freaks me out! I am delighted that you are in the middle of this training cycle injury free. We’re going to have a great time at the Riverboat Series–
This made me laugh – running does take a lot of time – part of why I have to get up and get it out of the way by 7am most days. Glad that you at least have nice weather this week for all of the running!
That’s such a lot of time running. I’ve never thought to add up all the hours I spend on on the road – probably because I don’t mind the time I spend doing something I love.
I try not to total up the time I spend because it’s a bit like driving a race course for me…seeing it makes me think holy crap that’s not possible!!
