Today was a crazy busy day and tomorrow and Saturday will not be much better. Shoo and I walked Jones to school, walked to the Courthouse to vote, walked to the bookstore to pick up the “favors” for Jones’ birthday party, and then walked home – about 5 miles total. Then we jumped in the car and went to the fabric store, a craft store, and the library. After a little time chilling at the house, we headed to pick up Jones from school. Shoo had apparently reached the end of his rope and totally lost it while we were waiting outside for Jones. After 15 minutes of holding a screaming boy (with lots of comments from other moms that they’d never seen him not happy), I was pretty well done myself.
After we got home, the tantrum continued. By the time I finally got him calmed down (sort of) and the boys settled with snacks and Crocodile Hunter, I was totally spent. I wanted to curl up with Breaking Dawn and a beer. And maybe some chocolate. Ok, lots of chocolate.
But then, amazingly, Shoo fell asleep. And I needed to go upstairs to get something. I figured as long as I was up there, I might as well put on my running shoes. And then Beer Geek got home and I just walked out the door. No Garmin. No plan. No goals. I just ran.
And now I feel human again.
Ahhhhhh those are the best type of runs. Very nice! And (((HUGS)) for dealing with the tantrum. Oy, it’s never easy.
Cool! I don’t have little kids but I have a cranky boss. I should try that sometime.
That’s when you really NEED a run.
That’s awesome that you did all that walking with the kiddos. Tantrums? Oh yeah, we know about those at our house, too. LOVE that feeling human again after a run. And no Garmin? What’s that like? I’m going to have to try that after this Sunday. Enjoy your busy weekend.
Wow. I already know you don’t use an iPod, but no Garmin either? No watch at all? Ooooooh. Give you credit – haven’t done that in a looooong time!
