As I prepare to head to the Skirt Sports mothership AKA their store in Boulder on Friday, today’s topic for Tuesdays on the Run seems more than a little bit appropriate. What are we chatting about? Race Gear: Are you a hoarder or a minimalist? Do you need everything in every color or do you keep as few things around as possible?
I admit, I have a few skirts. Ok, more than a few. But I contend that I’m not a hoarder. The Oxford English Dictionary defines a hoarder as “one who hoards or stores up, esp. money.” And to hoard as “To amass and put away (anything valuable) for preservation, security, or future use”.
See? No hoarding here! I use all the skirts that I own. I mean, sure, I have enough skirts to wear one a day for at least a month, but each and every skirt gets its turn.
In fact, when I came back from my trip to New England, my Happy Girl bin (yes, I have enough skirts to segregate them by type…) only had 2 lonely skirts left in it! All of my other skirts had been worn in the days leading up to the trip, as a running skirt on the trip, or casual wear while we were traipsing around. Obviously I need them all.
While my Happy Girl skirts see action all year round, I do have skirts that only get used in certain types of weather. But if a skirt goes more than a year without being used? I find it a home where it can be appreciated. That’s right, I’m the girl that goes to all the gear exchanges and comes home with nothing new.
Obviously, I’m very nearly a minimalist when it comes to my skirts. ;o)
But let’s not talk about why Beer Geek calls me his Little Imelda...

You’re adorable. LOL I love that you are in denial AND that you have separate bins for each type of skirt. 😉

At least you wear all of your skirts! I have so many pieces of running clothes that I save and never wear. I do get rid of some stuff, but I still have way more than I really need!

I’d like to have all the skirtsports . . . running clothes & shoes (and regular clothes) — it’s a problem!

Just a few skirts and shoes.. nothing to see here-lol!!!
I have not gotten into the the running skirt but after running on Saturday and getting the embarrassing sweat lines between my legs, I can see how the running skirt could totally mask that.
I am a hoarder of all things workout… I have 3 bads of washed clothes to fold, more than half is workout clothes and I still have plenty in the closet.
Well, when you fin something that you like, you stick with it! I have quite the collection of Running Skirts an Mizunos. Sadly I still have my collection of Altras too that I no longer wear.
I love how organized all your skirts are! I’ve finally reorganized my “bottoms” drawer, but I don’t have enough skirts to give them their own bins yet! haha

I am relatively new to Skirt Sports, so my collection is still relatively small (at least compared to yours!). That said, I still find myself looking at their page and choosing new skirts or tops that I just have to have. (Does this mean I’ve accepted that I have a problem?)

Haha, you own ALL THE SKIRTS! But at least you wear all of them 🙂 I’m somewhere in between hoarding and minimalist.

I blame the companies. They keep coming out with patterns I need to get…

Not enough money to buy all the skirt sports I want. Maybe I need a second job LOL

Love this! I own 10 pairs of the Oiselle Long Rogas. I guess I am a minimalist. 🙂

Love this! You are totally not a skirt hoarder is I am not a tank top hoarder!

Ha! Fun topic! The only thing I splurge on is running gear in general. I wear it all, and the things I really don’t love anymore I’ve given away. If running gear makes us happy–not to mention keeps us running–I think it’s totally acceptable to buy as much as we want!

As long as you’re wearing all of the skirts, of course you need that many! As many back to back races as you run, I can see where you’d need all the shoes too. Totally a justified hoard!

That is the most fabulous collection of running skirts I’ve ever seen! I love how you’ve got them so neatly organized in those bins. My running-clothing drawer is a complete disaster. I try to fold everything and organize by color. Unfortunately, over time it just becomes one big game of Tetris where I just stuff things into every corner I can find. =) Glad that you find new homes for the skirts you don’t wear – I have a tough time parting with some of my favorites!

If you like them, then you should have that many! I’m that way about stuff too. When I find something I like, I buy every one that I can find! At least you are organized! 🙂
I am a hoarder of all the running gear! LOL

I’m the opposite of hoarder … someone who’s too cheap to invest in enough running gear to keep me from digging my favorites out of the laundry hamper and wearing again. (Gross, but true!) This topic has inspired me to break out the credit card and order more running gear! 😉
Ha, I so do not even think you are a Skirt Sports Hoarder!! I do have a question for you though, do you own any other brand…. 🙂
