The weather today was beautiful! If there had not been 20+ inches of snow on the ground, it would have been perfect for the 7 mile tempo run that was on my marathon training schedule. Instead, I spent most of my day with a shovel in my hands. In fact, I’m now having difficulty moving my right hand from clutching the shovel for so long and I don’t want to even think what my shoulders and back will feel like tomorrow.
After lunch, we headed out and continued shoveling. We can now easily get the jeep out if we need to and we’ve cleared the driveway enough that we can get the jeep to the driveway if need be. My car is parked for the foreseeable future as I discovered the day before the storm that I really need new tires. Based on the weather forecast which is calling for more snow Tuesday night and possibly more next weekend, my honda will be hanging out at home for a while.
Since four hours of shoveling is unlikely to prepare me for a marathon, I ran 4.3 miles on the treadmill in just under 40 minutes. I’m hoping to get out for a run on the snow tomorrow since it’s looking really likely that my 14 mile run this week will be on the treadmill.
Whose bright idea was it to train for a marathon this winter?
OMG all that snow is reminding me that we still haven't had any MAJOR snow storms…and we always have at least a few major snow storms. Yikes! I can't believe you ran after shoveling for 4 hours…you are so hardcore 🙂
Be careful out there. 14 on the treadmill sounds awful. Good luck.
The snow does look beautiful.
wow. and yikes.
I keep saying I'll never train through the winter again after last year, why do I never keep my word? That shoveling has to count for at least a half marathon!
Oh my stars! That is alot of snow!
I feel your pain, girl. My back is WRENCHED from all the shoveling yesterday. All I know is, we better NOT get hit with more of this stuff on Wednesday. I've had enough!
I feel you! Shoveling is great crosstraining, though!
I totally relate to your frustration. My training had been going so well, and now I am completely treadmill bound! Anyway, nice job with that jeep. The shoveling is great cross training.
oh my gosh. that is a LOT of snow!
Nice job on the treadmill run, especially after all that shoveling! That snow just looks gross.
That is an INSANE amount of snow! I was thinking about all of you guys this weekend.
That is a TON of snow! WE haven't had a dumping like that in a few years! Hope the sun will melt some of it away soon!
That SUCKS but does make for a nice core workout!
I am so over the snow. And we are supposed to get dumped on again this week in NJ…twice!Spring…NOW!!
I joined you in shoveling and treadmill running. What is that kind of workout called anyway? Oh yeah, hard!
WOW. That's insane. I know how you're feeling about winter training. I'm not enjoying it either, and I don't even have near the snow you have. Are you able to pop in a movie during those long treadmill runs? I think that'd be a great way to pass 14 miles if they have to be indoors. Good luck.
That is so nuts. I hope you don't get any more snow this year! But don't send it our way — we've only had 21 inches all season and I don't mind that at all!
That's a lot of snow. But it's so pretty!
