Jones had a huge fit at camp drop off this morning. By the time it was all resolved, I was a wreck. Shoo got dropped off a half hour late to preschool and I decided I just didn’t have it in me to deal with Costco. I had planned to push my run back until Beer Geek got home, so that I could get some other things accomplished during my kid-free time. Instead, I headed home and went out for a run.
I only ran 3 miles and not terribly fast, but it at least got me to the point that I could make some needed phone calls and stay calm during them. It’s amazing how running can just release my stress and help center me.
Before we had kids, I ran for exercise and to be able to eat what I wanted. Now, I run because I have to in order to be a good mom.
AMEN! It's the truth! Glad you got that run in!
Sounds like a much healthier release than other options. I stay stick with what works (and is good for you)!
I was just thinking today while I was running, how meditative running is to me. It's awesome to have such a positive release that gives you hot legs!
I'm sorry he had a melt down! Nathan has just started to cry when I leave the room and that breaks my heart. I can't imagine dealing with a full on Chernobyl.
Nothing like a nice run to make everything okay again! Good call skipping Costco – that may have resulted in a nervous breakdown after your stressful morning.
yep! true dat!
I have always run for stress relief, so I can imagine that once I have the kid, I'm gonna need to double the miles!
Right on! I think running, in addition to making me a better mom, has also prevented me from killing/divorcing my husband. 🙂
I love how you can feel so burdened, like every problem is huge then after a run you can have a whole new perspective.
I hear ya, sister!! I didn't start running until after my second was born, so sanity is my number one reason for running. Sometimes a slow three miler is all it takes to clear your head, huh?I hope the rest of your day was better!
Man, I would have used all that as an excuse to GET OUT OF running!Guess that proves I'm a dude, because all the skirts who are commenting on this blog are agreeing with you.Chicks!
So glad the run helped. And as a someday (not anytime soon) mother, it's good to hear that running makes you a better mom.
