I went out for a “long” run today. I planned to take it slow and easy and aimed for a minimum of 4 miles and a goal of 6 miles.
Not only did I finish the 6 miles, I added on more mile and negative split the run!!!
This was only the second time I’ve done more than 6.5 miles since my half marathon in March. Whoa. And there was no pain.
My splits:
Mile 1: 10:58 (always good to start a run uphill, oy)
Mile 2: 10:18
Mile 3:10:39 (this was actually where I was trying to be LOL)
Mile 4: 10:28
Mile 5: 10:05 (Hello, endorphins!)
Mile 6: 9:50 (Fastest mile!!!)
Mile 7: 10:19
Gotta love a long run where your fastest mile is near the end.
In addition to my long run today, I had to get in a workout yesterday for Tall Mom’s “mile a day” in December and Samantha’s “30 for 60“. I did a half mile warm up on the treadmill and then spent the next 20 minutes alternating between speedwork on the mill and pushups, planks, squats, and crunches. I finished with a half mile cooldown. 30 minutes of heart pumping goodness. The most amusing part was watching Shoo rock the pushups and squats better than I could.
I’m pretty sure walking is going to be challenging tomorrow!
(Edited to add, I’m tracking my challenges on a Challenges page now. See how I’m doing this month!)
Great job!
What a great feeling, huh? I've been a little lackluster in my running the last few weeks, so I too had a good longer run today. I'm celebrating with you!
Wow! Way to go. 🙂
That was a really impressive exercie day. Don't you just love when a run feels good? No pain. Reasonable speed. And enough energy to keep working hard to the end.
Negative splits are the BEST! Nice job on the run!
Isn't it feel great when everything comes together!
