Happy Saturday! This post is publishing WAY before I get up today. It’s been a long hard week and I’m sleeping in. Anyways, I’m joining up with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for a virtual coffee date.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this week was a week of crazy ups and downs. My kids finally went back to school after missing 8! school days (ok, one was a planned teacher work day). I love my children, but it was great to finally get back to a routine. We went a bit feral while they were home – staying up past midnight and sleeping until noon. Yeah, it was good to get back on track.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you one of the downs of the week was that Ella (the cat) stopped eating on Monday and on Wednesday the vet found a mass in her stomach that is likely cancer. Other signs indicated it had been affecting her insides for a while, but she did an amazing job hiding it from us. I was so afraid that this update was going to be about losing her, but yesterday, after I spent many hours rubbing wet cat food on her lips to get her interested in food, she started eating again. She’s eating Baby Cat food (not kitten food, mind you, but Royal Canin Baby Cat dry food designed for kittens transitioning to solid food), but I’m just happy she’s eating.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that one of the ups of the week was meeting Deb for lunch. I haven’t been able to run with MRTT much since fall, so we don’t see each other often. It was great to chat with her, but sorry no pictures – my red eyes from all the crying I did last week did not need to be immortalized. We had a nice time and the salad I had at Mad Fox Brewpub was just amazing! I can’t wait until I go there and can have it again LOL, although I joked with the owner that every time I like something they take it off the menu. Apparently if I like it, no one else does.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m excited to be a Feetures Socks Ambassador! I love love love their socks, especially the wool ones in the winter. I can’t wait to represent them at races and on social media. This was definitely one of the high points of a less than stellar week.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that Nektar Naturals is doing the sweetest thing (see how I did that LOL) for Valentine’s Day. You should head on over and send a sweet to your sweet – you give them the address and a some sentiments to include and they send your Valentine a cute note and a small packet of Nektar Honey Crystals. It’s FREE so do it! (And I’ve been given some of their honey crystals and they are tasty!)
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that while I didn’t run much last week because of the cat, I did manage to get out one night for a run and it was warm enough for a skirt. Gotta love it when it’s nice enough to have bare legs in February. Thankfully? I balanced my lack of running with a lack of eating and lost 5 pounds last week. I wouldn’t recommend that particular diet though.
Finally, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the Tuesdays on the Run topic for this week is “scenes from your run”. Show me the beautiful places (or mundane places) you run. Perhaps needing to share some pictures with you all will actually get me back out there running.
So, we’ll see you there, right???
Happy Saturday! What would you share with me if we were having coffee???

I’m so sorry to here about your cat. I hope she continued to improve. The fact she is eating again sounds very encouraging. Isn’t it crazy how you can wear a skirt one day and then you are bundled up the next? I have two sets of running clothes hanging up (yes, I admit to wearing them twice in winter). One is full on cold weather with fleece hat and the other is shorts and tank. Weird. I hope you have a better week.
It was great to see you for lunch this week we definitely need to do it more often. So glad to hear that your cat is eating a little bit. love the new skirt and can’t wait to get my hands on it too! Thanks for joining us for coffee!
So sorry to hear about your cat. Glad to hear she is eating again!
Congrats on your ambassadorship!
I am so sorry about Ella. I hope you continue to have quality time with her. Unfortunately you know I know about this sort of stuff all too personally (and yeah, about cats not eating too).
Big hugs!
So glad to hear that Ella is eating again. I know how stressful that can be. And glad you were able to have lunch wit hDeb for some mid-week girlfriend time. I am trying to cut back on blogging, but I might have to join on Tuesday to share my sunrise pics from today. ….
I’m so sorry to hear about Ella – I hope she continues to be interested in baby cat food, and that the diagnosis is something much less sinister than cancer.
On the plus side – great news about your ambassadorship!
Glad your kitty started eating again. Amazing how the furkids really are part of the family. I bet you are absolutely ready to get back into a routine after all that time off school for the kids! Have a great week!
I hate to hear that about your cat, those animals come into our lives and give us so much love it is so hard to see them go. It does not sound good for your furbaby but I know you’ll cherish the time you do have with her. 🙂
Aw, I’m sorry to hear about your cat but I’m glad she’s eating again! Dealing with a sick pet can be so tough, I hope it works out. Congrats on your Feetures ambassadorship! I haven’t tried their wool socks, I bet they are so comfy!
Sorry your week wasn’t great. It makes us appreciate the good weeks. Crazy to be in a running skirt in February ! The weather is just all over the place.
Hope your cat is better…..:( poor thing. Not fun when kitties are sick.
I hope Ella is eating again. Poor kitty… Congrats on the Feetures ambassadorship!
I’m just so sorry about your cat. It’s the hardest thing. This week, I cleaned out my answering machine and there were multiple messages from the vet wanting to check up on Cleo after her visit to the ER. So I had to call them and tell them what happened. And I started to sob, on the phone. I miss her a lot, and I have to say that it is hard. Since I was on a roll, I called the groomer too.
I feel you.
I was so so so glad to see the cat was on the mend.
And now Im checking back in—all still good?
these fur babies of ours.
WE SO LOVE THEM.
I’m so glad your cat started eating again–I really hope she’ll be okay! <3
Congrats on becoming an ambassador for Feetures! :]
