Yesterday turned out to be a glorious spring day. It started off rainy (and I started off whiny), but then the sun came out an it actually got warm. So warm, in fact, that I was overdressed for my run and I opened the windows when I got home.
Today it is 44* and rainy (Yay for that outdoor field trip to Mount Vernon!). Tomorrow at the start line for 17.75 it will be a “feels like” of 25*. Seriously, Mother Nature, get back on your meds.
So, I’m having a hard time coming up with 5 spring foods I’d like to eat, as I’m still in comfort food mode from the weather and eat.all.the.things mode from all the running. Speaking of running, did I mention that I successfully completed 20 and 12 back to back? I ran out of time for the last 3 miles thanks to the furnace, but I ran both runs with an average pace of 11:05. And my legs are tired today, but really no other issues.
To get in the mood for spring, here are 5 things I’m looking forward to this spring:
1. A trip out to see my parents, which includes 2 days in Chicago. I’d love to run on the lakefront with my dad, but I’m not sure we’ll have time.
2. This girl! It feels like forever since I saw her last August, so I can’t wait to run with her. (Ok, a lot slower than her. She’s doing two half marathons and I’m doing 2 fulls. Hope she doesn’t mind waiting LOL.)
3. A trip to Cape Cod and then a party with close friends with this guy to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years. I was obviously a child bride because there is no way I’m old enough to have been married that long.
4. Cape Cod Ragnar. Yes, my husband is so awesome that he agreed to me running (literally) away for 2 days to do Ragnar in the middle of our anniversary trip.
5. Savor. I love this event every year. We’ve been to every one in DC since the very first and always have a good time.
As per usual, I’m joining up with the awesome ladies of the DC trifecta: Mar, Cynthia, and Courtney.
Happy Friday, folks! Is this the beginning of your spring break? What fun stuff are you doing?
I agree with you about spring. In NC, we have enjoyed a few really nice days, and yesterday I actually ran in a tank top and skirt. But this weekend is supposed to be cold again. Congrats on your 20th anniversary. We have our 40th in June and have a river cruise planned as our celebration! I also was a child bride, but since I am running marathons, I don’t feel too bad about my age. and I have to keep up to my sister who will run Boston with me next month.
well 17k is better than long run day, says whiny, spring loving runner. 20 miles, into the wind, probably both ways, hahaha
Here in Maine the spring weather has also not made an appearance. I am pretty sick of marathon training in what my son calls “Lion” weather. Sounds like you have the perfect anniversary planned!!!!
Wow, 20 years! What an incredible milestone!
I remember how slow spring got to Boston, then we were already close to summer. I played a “spring” sport in college but most of the season was just cold.
Congratulations on your 20 yrs. That is truly something special. Cape code trip sounds great. I have always wanted to run a Ragnar race. They sound so fun.
Sounds like you’ve got a great summer planned! Congrats on the 20 years, that’s a great milestone!
I agree. I am so over winter. This weekend it is back to 20s and 30s. Can’t wait to wear a skirt without tights under. I might just do it this Sunday and freeze.
you were CLEARLY a child bride 🙂 see you tomorrow!
I sure wish you were going to be in Chicago a little longer so we could run together! I’d do the lakefront with you! 🙂
We’ve had such beautiful weather here this year, so I can’t complain. However, we’ve had some rough winters/springs in the past and it’s so hard to be patient for nice weather! Your summer sounds like it will be so much fun! I would love to run a Ragnar race on Cape Cod! Congrats on your 20th. We’ll be celebrating our 19th anniversary this summer! It’s crazy how time flies!
Looks like you have a fun spring and summer ahead. We have our 20th anniversary in May too! Congrats
Mother Nature cn kick rocks!!! I am so done with her!!
Have a good race!
It looks like you have an incredibly fun spring planned! Enjoy!
So I want to know when you are going to do a 50 miler…..hmmmm?
haha, ok this—>>> Seriously, Mother Nature, get back on your meds. SO true! What is Savor? I love finding interesting things to do in the city! and it was freezing on Saturday at 17.75, geez!
