I survived! I knew going into this fall that September and October were going to be insane. They did not disappoint! But it’s November now and with Shoo’s birthday on Halloween, the craziness ends. Time to take a deep breath and get everything under control. Since I actually have time to take a real coffee break, I’m joining Deb and Coco‘s virtual coffee date.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I was more sore after the Marine Corps Marathon than I have been after a race in years. Seriously, the lack of a bathroom on our main level darn near killed me. On the bright side, not only did I refuse to walk up and down the stairs to do anything for my kids, I made Shoo be my legs and sent him to get things for me. Thankfully, by yesterday, all the soreness was gone.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I haven’t done any exercise since MCM. Nothing. And I’ve eaten all of the Snickers. And most of the Reeses Santas. Because yes, when you buy your Halloween candy at 4pm on the day of, you get to give out Christmas candy for Halloween. What???
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my parents are visiting and we are all working hard. My dad and I replaced the storm window that gotten broken over a year ago. (I know.) And my mom fixed a burner on my stove. I feel like I’m living in an episode of “This Old House.”
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve decided not to run an ultra this winter. Even if I finally get to be pain free (I’m not currently), I don’t have time to train. Since it’s 24 hours of loops, I could still do it, but honestly, I have no desire to walk an ultra. None.At.All. Guess I’ll be revisiting that goal once I get my stupid foot healed.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m feeling a lot of FOMO about Ragnar Napa. I had a few offers to run it, but just could not be gone another weekend. But it’s fueling my need to run a Ragnar again next year. I’m targeting the Ragnar Minnesota race because I’ll already be in Wisconsin and can leave the kids with my parents. I want to do it as an Ultra – anyone want to join me???
I’m linking up with Deb and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee date. Have a great weekend!
LOL on the Hallowxmas candy! Congrats again on MCM. You deserve ALL the candy!
When is that Ragnar? ….
Can you send your parents here on their way back to Wisconsin? I need some work done and my men just don’t seem up for it… :p
There’s a Ragnar in Minnesota??????? How is that not on my radar? I bought my Halloween candy at 4:30 (on my way home from work)…and I guess I got lucky (no Christmas candy).
Silly me panicked and decided we needed MORE candy since my kids had their way with most of ours before Halloween. And then we got 2 kids total at our door. Target was very wiped out of candy though.
I think candy sounds like a perfect recovery strategy!
Stairs are the worst when you’re super sore!!
Yay for Snickers! I meant to go catch the after-Halloween candy sale but didn’t end up going (oops). Probably better for me anyway, hehehe. But now I want Twix!
Ultra — no thanks! But you enjoy. 🙂 Sounds like a wise move. When the time is right, you’ll know (or you’ll just do it anyway).
My parents are too old to do much else than eat. So when we visit them, that’s what we do, we take them out to eat. Even when they were younger, helping around *our* house was not their thing. Asking us to do stuff for them . . . well anyway. 🙂
I’m still upset I missed the girl with the Snickers at me last half!
I’ve really don’t have any desire to do a Ragnar race but those medals are pretty cool!
We missed you in Napa! We need to plan another one although I could not survive an ultra. We are going to need a real coffee date to catch up soon
Reese’s Santa and trees are the best.
Hope your foot is on the mend soon
