Breaking the rules

Breaking the rules

As I mentioned earlier, I joined Team Tough Chik in January.  I'm not sure exactly why I joined, other than the shirt was cute and I like their philosophy.  As it turns out, it's a group of women from all walks of life.  We are all different ages from different parts of the country.  We are young and old.  Some run, some do triathlons, one woman rock climbs (holy cow!)  What I found (and had no idea I'd find) was a wonderfully supportive group of women who are willing to discuss everything from menopause to injuries to fashion while running.  One of the TC's came up with the idea of a weekly "Riddle me this?" question for those of us who blog to answer if we feel like it. This week's question:  What running rule do you break? Me?  I … [Read more...]

1.  I've been calling myself a stay at home mom for about 7 years now.   But, it occurred to me the other day that I've become more of a work at home mom over the last year.   I'm currently juggling two occupations and hope to add a third on Friday.  I am basically the operations manager for a friend's company.  He's been getting more work than he can handle on his own, so I'm taking over making sure that some of the work gets done by his contractors.  I've had to learn a bunch of new software systems and create whole new processes.  I love it and it uses my brain in ways it hasn't been used in a while.  I'm also coaching two women to fall marathons, complete with occasional accompanied runs.  On Friday, I'm meeting about taking on the role … [Read more...]

Random thoughts on a Friday

I just ran 7.4 miles in my VFFs!  Longest run to date. I have a dumb phone and texting is difficult.  However, I am currently texting Emz during her 24 mile run.  'Cause what's a little texting difficulty compared to 24 hours on a treadmill?  I'm thinking the 3 hour time difference will work in my favor when I get up at 6 to give her some more text love during the last few hours of her run.  Don't know what I'm talkin' about?  Go over to RunEmz for details and donate while you are at it. Conversation with Shoo last night - S: Mom, did they shoot off fireworks when I was born? Me: No. S:  Well, why not? Tomorrow I get to meet up with Barefoot AngieB and Miss Zippy in DC.  Trying to decide if we'll go for a barefoot/minimalist … [Read more...]

TTT: Run EMZ, Rainy run, packing

I feel almost like this should be a "One Thing Thursday" because #1 is so important.  If you read nothing else, read that and then go donate and give EMZ some support. 1.  Tomorrow one of my favorite bloggers, Emz, is running a 24 hour treadmill run to support the Sojourner Center, an organization that provides shelter and support services for victims of domestic violence.  This is an incredibly important service as one out of every four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.  That's a huge number!  And it's awesome that Emz is using her amazing ability to run on a treadmill to help support this cause.  So, hop over there, give Emz some love, and drop some money in the donation box. 2.  Yesterday was a client run … [Read more...]
